Was a VERY good read. I picked it up at O'Hare and read it until I landed back in Austin. Finished the book the next night and passed it along to my 17 year old son who read it cover to cover within the week.

TAM...just looked at your suggested read. Sounds like something right up my son's alley....would be suitable for him?

Well I finished Lone Survivor last night. Very few books have brought tears to my eyes...this was one of them.

Now I need to select another book off of my book shelf to read. I'm contemplating starting "We Were Soldiers Once And Young" or picking up Robert Leckie's "Helmet for my PIllow".

Another book I highly recommend, Ghost Soldiers by Hampton Sides.

Shadow Warriors by Tom Clancy was pretty good, too.

It's not a gun-related book, but Angelmass by Timothy Zahn is the best novel I've ever read by a large margin. I picked it up for $1 at a Dollar Tree a few years ago and read it through in less than a work week. Highly recommended.

Just checked out Lone Survivor from the library this week. Just a few pages in and I'm hooked.

Also heard of a series of books by C.J. Box last week on the Hugh Hewitt show. Box has a series of books who's main character is a game warden, as well as some one-off books with different characters. More info and transcript of the conversation can be found here, at Hewitt's blog site:

One of the characters in the series caries a .454 Casull handgun from Freedom Arms which I was not familiar with. Links to Freedom Arms and Casull wiki below - Check it out next to a AA battery!

BTW, I have taken to using my public library quite a bit over the last couple of years. Ours, as I'm sure most do, allows me to find a book via their website and place a hold on it. The library then pulls or transfers the book from other libraries and emails me when its ready for pick up. Aside from drive time, it took me less than two minutes to walk to the "Hold" shelves, find my books, check out and be back in the car - with two kids in tow.
