Under cover female office shoots hostage taker
I'm not sure where the best place to post this is, but its a video clip of an undercover female police office confronting, then shooting a hostage taker, holding his victim with a knife to her throat. This clip is from Military.com and not sure why its posted there as it does not appear to be military related or even in the US. But I think it may be of interest to other CHL holders as the lady office draws her concealed carry and takes out the threat pretty efficiently, and dealing with this type of situation has been the topic of a number of posts on this board.

She telegraphs her draw for quite a long time, relatively, before she actually does. The hostage taker is somewhat distracted, but I think he is mostly just stupid.

I can see why we don't do that in America, that was an 8 or so second draw and firing without getting a sight picture. Good job and congrats to her, but very very risky.

I guess Chinese (I presume that was what it was) LEO's don't wait for backup or call stuff in. They see a problem, they fix it. I have mixed emotions about that. I like to see justice done, but being a fan of the Bill of Rights I see the woman's actions as being somewhat objectionable.

It looks like the police were at a standoff with him and called her in for this purpose. I would also guess that her draw was slower because she was playing it off and moving slowly to not attract his attention during the draw because once she shot and lunged, she moved pretty fast.

Which Bill of Rights would she be subject to?Purplehood wrote:I guess Chinese (I presume that was what it was) LEO's don't wait for backup or call stuff in. They see a problem, they fix it. And for that matter, even if that was in the US, wouldn't you kind of think that the hostage taker had kind of forfeited any claim to any specific right?

That is pretty much why I worded my response the way that I did. You are making me confused. Stop, please.jimlongley wrote:Which Bill of Rights would she be subject to?Purplehood wrote:I guess Chinese (I presume that was what it was) LEO's don't wait for backup or call stuff in. If I were that woman and he stabbed me in the arm like that with the police feet away, I would have kicked the tar out of him and ran. He has a knife; what's he going to do? Throw it at me as they shoot him? I'll take the chance.

Re: Under cover female office shoots hostage taker
If this happened in the United States the officer and police department would be crucified. The public would expect that the police cordon off the area and bring in a SWAT team and hostage negotiator. The "victim's" family would have already retained a lawyer to sue the shooter and the police department.

It's hard to tell about the first shot, but your observations seem to be accurate. It's interesting to note that there are two or three other individuals [maybe police] that follow her into the store as well as the camera man.AndyC wrote:Looks to me like her first shot was an ND at about 45 degrees upwards as she ran forwards - the guy steps back and falls backwards to get away and she closes in and finishes him off while he's on the ground.

The LEO might not have really given a rats-patootie about the hostage. But I am kinda biased against Commies.
