Could you pass the US' naturalization test?
I would venture a guess that those here would do better than average. How do you think those you know would do? How do you do? I challenge you to actually vocalize an answer for each question and not to assume you "know it" with a general and vague sense of "oh yeah" when you read the answers. I kicked myself in the backside for missing a couple easy ones out of complacency which I could have answered correctly had I thought about my answer.

I think a lot of these questions could have more than one correct answer.

Yes, you are correct. Any correct answer is appropriate and some have numerous correct answers.

Re: Could you pass the US' naturalization test?
It's easier to pass when more than one answer is correct. If they gave more tests like this in school, I would have gotten more "A"s.Hoi Polloi wrote:Yes, you are correct. Any correct answer is appropriate and some have numerous correct answers.
It looks like question 56 is the most important for "senior citizens".

Re: Could you pass the US' naturalization test?
I think there are more correct answers than those that are listed as correct. According to our politicians.

That's because the correct answer is "The day you die." After that, someone else has to send it.WildBill wrote:It's easier to pass when more than one answer is correct. Re: Could you pass the US' naturalization test?
It would be most interesting to see how Texas high school seniors (class of 2011) and their teachers would do on this test if it showed up as a "Pop Quiz" a month before graduation. {?are Pop Quizs still allowed?}

I wonder if it would be higher or lower than the % of lawyers who could pass the bar exam as a "Pop Quiz" on one try.Oldgringo wrote:It would be most interesting to see how Texas high school seniors (class of 2011) and their teachers would do on this test if it showed up as a "Pop Quiz" a month before graduation. {?are Pop Quizs still allowed?}

I legitimately missed a few, felt silly. Some I only knew because I just started reading through the Declaration and Constitution last week.
And Oldgringo, you get out of it what you put into it. If a student puts time and effort into high school they will be able to pass this test with ease. I graduated in 2007. To be fair though, most US History I learned was at University classes.

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

Did anybody else notice that a lot of the answers can be found in some of the questions that follow it?

FYI: a passing score is 60%. After passing the English speaking, reading, and writing portions, unless exempt from those because of age or illness, the person is asked up to 10 questions from the above civics test and must get 6 correct.

I missed five, but they didn't include MY indian tribe. In 1621 a sachem of the Pemaquid Abnaqi walked into Plymouth Colony and greeted the inhabitants, in perfect English, "Hello Englishmen."
