Hug your little ones...
There's a 3-year old boy spending his Christmas Eve in the hospital tonight. He's been in and out of hospitals for almost a year undergoing various treatments for cancer.
Over the long months he's learned the ropes of being in the hospital very well. Of dealing with the doctors and nurses, of having tubes constantly dangling from his little body, of losing his hair, of watching his hospital friends come and go.
Some are gone forever. He doesn't understand why. Only that they're gone.
He's a tough little guy. His little body has been subjected to all manner of invasions and indignities. Radiation, chemotherapy, and most recently immunotherapy, just to name a few. The latter is especially hard. He says the "spiders are biting me". But it's a constant thing for 20 straight hours at a time over a four day period each session. The pain hardly lets him sleep, even though he gets a steady drip of morphine throughout the procedure. But he hangs tough.
Despite starting with a 15% chance of survival when he was diagnosed in February he is now cancer-free. He is a living miracle and proof in the power of prayer. He still has a long road ahead but the fight from this point forward will be focused on keeping the cancer from coming back. He will win.
How do I know all this?
He's my grandson and I am so proud of him.
Merry Christmas, little Lucas.

Re: Hug your little ones...
Lucas' story brought some tears to my eyes. He sure is one tough boy. You are ALL in my thoughts and prayers this Holiday Season. I am happy to hear that he is cancer free. May God continue to bless him and your family.
Merry Christmas to you all.
Merry Christmas to you all.

Little ones can be so strong and brave, when a grown-up would be whimpering and whining wanting sympathy! You go Lucas!!!
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and we will add you guys to our prayer list!!

AddyLO, thank you for sharing your Christmas miracle. Folks say there is no such thing as a miracle, they definitely don't notice them in the little things... a humminbird, a sunrise, a snowflake, but sadly don't see them in the big things such as Lucas' story. What a blessing he is to all of us to remind us to never give up hope. Thank you for the tears on Christmas morning, as it reminds me there are things bigger than myself and my little world, and there are INDEED miracles!
Blessings and prayers for continued health to you and yours!

Jesus loves the little ones. AddyLO, your grandson's story puts the Christ back in Christmas. God bless you and yours, and thanks for sharing.

That story is both terrible and wonderful; a terrible ordeal for Lucas and his parents, but a wonderful outcome and reminder of God's love and grace.
