I was part of the Flag Line at the funeral of one of our fallen soldiers. Ssgt Scott Burgess. Killed in action in Afganastan defending liberty & keeping our enemies at bay over there instead of bombing school busses that our Grandchildren are on. Many other soft targets.
westboro ilk (I will never call them a church) was there though I never say them personally. On the flag line, I was at the church & then at the graveside at the cemetary. There were other lines of defense outside where I was to keep them away from the family. Others talked of seeing them.
Small town of about 1400 & the outpouring of patriotism & family support was more than this outsider can express in words or even the pics that follow. There is no doubt in my mind that well over half that little town turned out in one place or another to support, comfort, & encourage the family.
Most of the pics that follow were taken from my truck on the way to the cemetary. Thus the poor quality. One hand driving at 50mph & the other snapping pictures as was possible. These are only a tiny portion of the Patriotism that was shown. Many pics were not good enough to post. There were SEVERAL that I missed because I had to drive & could not get them.

Leaving the church streets were lined w/ Patriot Citizens.
Law Enforcement was every where both honoring & a protective ring around the family preventing disturbance by anyone.
Places of business turned out for the Flag Line procession on the way to the cemetary. There is no doubt in my heart that an hr later when the Funeral Procession came that there were even more.
Households & families honored their home town hero.
Individuals stopped on both sides of the rd to pay respects.
It was 14 miles to the cemetary. We were led by 14 LEOs. Every mile one dropped out of the escort line of the Patriot Guard. When the Funeral procession came there was a LEO every mile of the way to insure their protection from disturbance from westboro ilk.
Places of business flew their flags 1/2 staff. I did not see a flag full staff in the county.
Even Individurals lowered Flags.

The Flag line completely surrounded the graveside. My guess 30yds radius circling the Family Canopy.
