Truck Stolen

We had a GM truck stolen off of our employee parking lot 12/30. Broad daylight. Literally took them 2 minutes to punch the lock and get it started. They then temporarily drove away for about a minute to make sure there was no remote security alerting device that caused someone to come out of the building, then went back to the the truck and drove off. The truck that carried the bad guys then went on to another GM truck and punched the lock on it and took miscellaneous items from it. Dallas PD found the truck and another one stolen in Plano earlier that day the next night at a chop shop after a tip from someone that there were guys stripping a truck behind the building. Talked to the detective and they seem to have enough evidence with a couple of palm prints and the security video I provided to charge at least one of the guys with the theft.

Not just yet. I'm still waiting on the insurance payout. My "truck" can really only be described as a random assortment of parts, and is missing one very key element... The engine!

All of that aside, Garland police get a huge from me. While they haven't caught the crooks yet, I'm hopeful. There is nothing I loath more than a thief.

Too bad there wasn't a remote device that sent an alarm to a man with a 30 caliber rifle. A couple dozen incidents like that might really put a dent in vehicle thefts and burglaries.

...a cyanide capsule installed under the ignition might work well, too...they do more $$ damage to the vehicle than they steal out of it a lot of the time...

I have family in South Africa that have the ignition switch activated by pulling a magnet out from under the ash tray and placing it on a certain spot on the center console. The car's been broken into twice, but never stolen.
