I found part of the reason for such a sudden interest. Our student loans should be in any day now. I typically use all mine for bills and maybe a little fun money. She uses her on the kids and fun etc. She wanted to go the shotgun I want but can't find and/or the Ruger American I want. She spilled the beans this morning not even being on the subject. What made her give it away was the fact she forgot all the paper work and she has no clue where the gun stores I go are. :D

Man now I got to look for scopes. This will be my deer/hog gun. I really would like something that illuminates the reticles handles well with low light, and has compensation for bullet drops. Eye relief is a big one I would like to be on target in less than seconds.

Heh I interpreted the first post as your wife restricting your gun buying not encouraging it.

I hate to tell you how much my wife has spent on guns for me, much less for herself. And the first time she came to my house, when we were dating, she saw my gun cabinet and told me she didn't think she could live in a house with guns in it.

Ejector is covered...but it's a 9mm, and I want to put a .40 ejector in it (a bit shorter, less likely to snap off again)...and for the little work it is to pin an ejector, it's not worth shipping back and forth--at least not to me.

which was a good interpretation. She has not really bought me anything in awhile and she wanted to be the one to buy it. Guess she was trying to stall me because she knows soon is cash is ready I will appear in the gun store like I teleported there. Pending work schedule of course.

Sounds to me like she wants a fiscally responsible 3-gun setup for her graduation present. ;-)

I know you're making a joke but borrowing money for graduation presents is the opposite of fiscally responsible. :nono:

The occupy movement is full of people with tens of thousands of dollars in student loans whining because they're too irresponsible to grow up and pay back what they borrowed and squandered.

I was thinking something simular when I saw the money was coming from student loans. If I was depending on barrowed money to pay for school, I would use that money to pay for school.

:iagree:

I was a tad bit offended by that also.

I missed the OP's note about student loans just above so that definitely came across wrong. :/ I was thinking in terms of sticking to a set budget, not borrowing, with a side of humor. That failed. Sorry, no offense or borrowing intended.

SO just to make sure I am clear? I have offended people by stating where my money is coming from? I am also now being linked or "lumped in" with occupy groups? This seems pretty hasty to me for you to make judgements like that. This post was meant to just be a sort of joke and ponder for outside ideas of what to spend on firearms should I be on a budget with 1000.00 with the joke left in mind.

I am not sure how the source of the money makes any difference at really? So had I said something along the lines of selling drugs, prostituting out my daughters and wife, or robbing a bank would the post have been taken more lightly? I have never understood how people can read something over the internet and feel the reason to take it serious. If the topic called for it I would understand. It is a public forum and I get that. However, I posted this in a "off-topic" section out of boredom. I suppose the next time I feel like sharing some laughs with what I assumed would be read by similar minded people, I will rethink my decision doing so on this board.

Kudos to you! I didn't realize I needed a lesson on "Finances 101". Considered me schooled. I didn't realize I was the only person to borrow money with an interest rate and ONLY spend it on school. Should I inform you guys that I paid my car off almost 2 years early with my loans as well as clear out other bills? That wasn't school related though so maybe that is another thing to look down your nose at me for. The loans I take out are with my name and taken out by me, not a free ride from somewhere. I guess I should try and get more government assistance and stop working 50+ hours a week. This way way I can walk around with the newest Mac Book Pros and drive Auidis to school. Then again I was actually born in America so may make that tough for me. That would definitely give you guys more to talk about though, seeing as how obviously you have less to do then I did when I posted this.

As long as you are seeking a employable degree (comp, business, engineering, medicine) and can fit it in your budget buy what ever you want. If you were getting a Art History/Feminist Studies (as applied to video games) major and making minimum payments on all of your credit card(s) I'd say something is a miss. I certainly used the G.I. Bill money on things outside the realm of school. When I was attending college

its important to remeber student loans cannot be dismissed through bankruptcy. If Osma Bin Laden had a student loan they could have found him in 2001

Your talking to someone that is 27 and just now got his first credit card dude. When I was 18 years old, no kids, 800 a month in bills. I wanted to get one to build credit but was steered away from them. So I payed cash for all the normal stupid immature stuff an 18 year old making 50K a year would. I had two cars (nothing special at all) video games, guitars, crap tons of amps etc. I had a decent savings for a bit but blew it helping some people out and staying afloat after getting laid off, the first time.

Anyways long story short loans have never been used for really anything fun per say. I bought my first pistol with selling almost my entire guitars and rig. Sold that pistol to buy the Glock 27 I own. I did however use some of my loans to get my CHL and 1000 rounds of .40 anyone want to tell me that was a dumb choice?? I only pushed it off by a little more than a year! due to more "responsible" spending. In fact I probably still wouldn't have it had my wife not pushed me to actually spend money.

I have no credit really my score is "ok" but not enough for a house. I have talk to several people and The history is not there. SO I am playing the credit game and got a Kohls card and a Master Card. I thought I was going to pass out when I got them, but if it means getting a house oh well.

I am curious where your looking that the degrees outside of medicine will land anyone anything right now? Not condemning anyone who is seeking or has those just curious. I am "technically" majoring in Convergence Technology. Personally I think the degree is a joke. If I had more time I would go get all the certifications and crap without the classes. Problem is its not a degree. SO even if I go pass every certification test out there falling under that degree. I will still be seen as someone without a degree. I am pretty bored with it. My heart is in law enforcement and now that my eye sight is suitable I am going to give it a go. That doesn't work out I am going for paramedic. Money in some places is ok and will keep me busy.

Thanks for knocking Feminist studies! I was going to double major in that to better understand my wife. Sort of a "can't beat them so join them" approach. :evil2:
