Install a mailbox on their car with your numerics on it...

Or ask them nicely.

Unfortunately there is no state law that prevents a person from parking in front of a mailbox. The USPS also has a policy that their employees do not have to exit their vehicle to deliver mail to an obstructed mailbox. It sucks. It really does, but unless your city has an ordinance against it, there is nothing you can do except ask your neighbor nicely not to do it.

I had to talk to our neighbors about this when they first moved in. 2 couples are renting the house next to me, and they have 4 cars between them. They all leave for work at different times, so not everyone was parking in the driveway. After the second time we didn't get mail, I went over, knocked on the door, and told them that the mail won't deliver if someone is parked in front of the box. In all fairness, this would affect them too because our boxes are next to each other. Needless to say, they park in front of the box on Sunday and overnight, but the car is always gone first thing in the morning. And Saturday is getting ready to become a moot point.

On a different note, I was driving up the street next to ours the other day, and I literally stopped in the middle of the road. There was a car parked on the street (belongs to the President of the HOA), and on the windshield was taped a note that read, "Please do not park in front of our house. Your neighbors at XXXX (house number)." The car sat there, parked with note taped on windshield where driver would have to look out, for about 3 days. Then the car was on the other side of the street parked a different way, and I haven't seen it parked in front of the note-writer's house since!

Thanks all for some very creative responses. The issue was resolved in a civil manner the kid was told we didn't get mail for 2 days because his car was blocking mailbox and could he pull forward or back to clear it. He complied with no complaint.
