The motion also says the state wants to prevent the defense from using Martin's toxicology report, which showed the level of marijuana in Martin's blood the night he was shot and killed.

Prosecution seeks to not allow Trayvon's past to be brought up at trial.

Any of this make any sense?
Yes, it makes sense in a sick twisted way. Prosecution maintains that Martin is the victim here, when most of us suspect that Zimmerman is the victim, who successfully defended himself from a punk thug. Prosecution's case against Zimmerman falls apart if Martin's record is admitted into evidence. There is a reason they MUST convict Zimmerman........he's not their real target. Their real target is Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, which is what the Martin entourage set out to blame the shooting on. (...even though that is not really an issue here; Zimmerman didn't "stand his ground." He was getting his butt handed to him during a fight for his life, on his back, with a younger, larger, stronger, thug on top of him, and he had the scalp lacerations on the back of his head and the broken nose to prove it. Zimmerman did not reach for his gun until Martin tried to take it from him while issuing a verbal threat to use the gun on Zimmerman.) If Martin's record can be introduced into evidence, it bolsters Zimmerman's claim of self-defense.

There is something really corrupt about a prosecution which depends on suppressing the truth to arrive at a verdict they can live with......because living with the truth is not acceptable. THAT is the kind of crap liberals foster.
The ironic thing here is that it is almost always the defense that is trying to suppress evidence and the prosecution the one crying about not being able to do he job if the evidence is suppressed.
Prosecutors suppress evidence all the time....usually they don't get caught. Plenty of prosecutors are not any more interested in the truth than the defense is.
A certain CHL instructor has said before that a prosecutor's job isn't to pursue truth and justice, it is to get his boss reelected. Hard to find much that's not true with that statement.

/Sarcasm on/ I'm surprised the motion doesn't ask to skip the trial and move directly to sentencing. /Sarcasm off/

Or skip directly to the lethal-injection table.

Zimmerman's defense has posted some pictures retrieved from Trayvon Martin's camera, including one of a semi-automatic pistol held in his hand (with his finger on the trigger!) and an extra magazine laying on a table nearby. It would be fascinating to hear his family and lawyers try to explain how the sweet innocent boy came to have a pistol in his hand.

He was less than 21, so that is a Federal crime to acquire a pistol at that age with no parental guidance and possession and supervision at all times. In addition, cultivating weed and smoking weed wold make him dependent on illicit drugs, that is another disqualification to acquire firearms..

Actually you can't purchase a handgun under 21 but no law against possessing one just because you are under 21. That has been discussed at length here on the forum.

This is where CHL for 18-20 yrs old (active armed forces) is problematic under federal law. They let fight for your country but can't buy a small pistol.

In the interview, Zimmrman's lawyer would not state that the hand in the photo holding the gun was that of Trayvon Martin. That's going to be difficult to prove to a jury IF these photos are allowed as evidence. The attorney said he would try to introduce these and other photos/info on Martin's past/lifestyle IF the same type of past/lifestyle information was admitted against Zimmerman.

Clarification: an 18-20 year old can purchase a handgun in a private transaction (subject to state law), they just cannot purchase from an FFL under federal law.

This may all be true, but a 17 year old who has a bad temper (swinging on a bus driver) a drug problem (pot and drank), and a tendency towards crime (burglary tools found and jewlery on him in school) has no business being near a pellet gun. A rubber band gun or water pistols was all he was mature enough for.

Fixed it for you. I assume you wouldn't someone arbitrarily deciding you shouldn't be allowed near firearms without due process.

That tells me that Martin was high as a kite when he attacked Zimmerman. If Martin was clean and sober, nobody would object to Zimmerman's defense introducing the toxicology report.

A 17 year old is not supposed to have firearms without adult supervison period. The other stuff is just to emphasize that I would not be comfortable supervising him with a firearm. So unless his mommy was taking the picture of her dear sweet boy holding the gun in such a poor manner.....he should not have had access to firearms.

No adjudication needed.....he is under age if he did not have a parent with him.
