My Dad was 335th Army Infantry, Railsplitter Division and was wounded in action around Lindern, Germany. Leg injury from shrapnel, his buddy was KIA from this same blast. This got him transferred to a desk Sgt's position in the Army Air Corps, where he finished out the war. His brother fought and survived the Battle of the Bulge, and another brother served in Japan as part of the occupation force. He never said anything bad about the Germans, but he hated the Japanese until the day he died, from the stories of their atrocities that his brother had told him.
