Unless I have missed something it appears that the only person who has identified a government program that they like is C-dub with The Navy. I can pursue that one if C-dub is up for it but I would prefer something with a more tangible benefit like roads, certainly there is someone who likes government roads?

How about speaking english and owning guns? I see that as one of numerous "tangible" benefits secured, protected, and retained through all the branches of military.

I think federally backed student loans have been a good thing.

Alright, I am willing to discuss federally backed student loans, GI bill, CMP or even the military, but I would prefer it not be the military. That is less likely to be a productive conversation I think. Just let me know if you are willing to discuss one of those at length as well.

Civilian Marksmanship Program:

"The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a U.S. government-chartered program that promotes firearms safety training and rifle practice for all qualified U.S. citizens with special emphasis on youth. Any U.S. citizen who is legally not prohibited from owning a firearm may purchase a military surplus rifle from the CMP, provided they are a member of a CMP affiliated club. The CMP operates through a network of affiliated shooting clubs and state associations that covers every state in the U.S. The clubs and associations offer firearms safety training and marksmanship courses as well as the opportunity for continued practice and competition."

I cant have a conversation with the constitution, do you think that bridges and roads should be done by the government?

Well, the government is responsible for the upkeep of our roads and bridges. Would you rather they all be toll roads and be taken care of by private companies?

And I'm also a little disappointed that you don't think that there is a significant tangible benefit to having a strong Navy. You ask about government programs and then say that you cannot discuss the constitution and are also unable or unwilling to discuss anything regarding the military. Is that a sensitive issue for you? There are a lot of us around here that think highly of the military.

C-dub, you appear to have misunderstood just about everything I have said in this thread and looking back at my posts I do not think I have been unclear.

This is the first time I've been accused of completely misunderstanding. I've missed one or two things now and then, but never completely misunderstood. There is just something about this statement that makes me think you are either not very knowledgeable of the military or have had a bad experience with the military or just plain don't care for it. I could be off on this because it is just a feeling.

And what about this statement?

This one seems pretty clear, but I guess I could also be wrong on this one.

And yet again.
I cant have a conversation with the constitution, do you think that bridges and roads should be done by the government?
This too seems clear and BDickens also mentioned that roads and bridges are the responsibility of the Fed according to the Constitution. You did ask the question about whether he or someone thinks they "should" be their responsibility and I asked if you thought they should be made toll roads for private companies to maintain. I think I prefer them to be the responsibility of the government. Isn't that what the bulk of our vehicle registration goes for? I do not like toll roads and avoid them when possible.

Oops. Sorry. I said "completely" and that is not what you said. You only said "just about everything." Which part did I get right?

I know. :smilelol5: I was offering it as an example of a good program.
