No. We stopped years ago. We don't care for haloween, and the proliferation of all the broadcast media glorifying demonic forces seems to grow each year at this time. Haloween has morphed into a celebration of darkness.

YMMV.

Always...

We live in a cul-de-sac and most of the neighbors set up in the street to give out candy and we all bring food and drinks out and make it a neighborhood night out.

I understand some folks feelings about halloween being glorified evil and I respect that. We choose to try and re-create the old school feel we had growing up in our neighborhood instead of shutting things out.

Either way, I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween (or All Hallows' Eve)...

We stopped a couple of years ago when vehicles with twenty kids from neighborhoods afar started showing up. We even had a truck pulling a trailer that had even more kids. We always gave out candy bars ( not the mini-size) When teenagers taller than me came a knockin' we just started leaving the light off.

Since when was Halloween not like that? Must have been that movie "Halloween" in 1978 that changed everything!!

:iagree: When we lived in PA, we even had school buses hauling kids to the better neighborhoods for more loot.

:iagree: we turn off the light and watch a non-Halloween movie in the theater room.

We've got a 5-year old, and we live in a neighborhood on the west end of Houston. So yes, we do it each year.

This year, however, I'll be in London...so I'll have to miss.

Here too. The drivers/parents probably support the current POTUS and Nancy Pelosi.

Yes, I walk with my youngest to trick or treat while my hubby and parents stay at the house and hand out candy. We make it a nice family night with treats, my fresh baked pumpkin bread and hot apple cider(or cold, depending on the temperature)
Its a tradition we love and my kids look forward to. Lots of trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood and lots of parents relaxing out in the driveway, handing out candy, to say hello too.

Won't be home, so not able to give out candy at our door... We'll be back in the great State of Texas for a visit instead! We sure do miss it... counting the days. :txflag:

Lived in NOLA for 30 years. Wife was born and raised there. Couldn't get to Texas fast enough. Go back to visit but after finding God's Country, don't think there is anyway I could move back. Sure do miss the food though. Have you had po-boys from Come Back Inn in Metairie? Sloppy roast beef is awesome.

Halloween used to be more about community with a little about ghosts and goblins and has grown to what I described in previous post.
Mrs Anygun and I used to take gift/treats to all of the neighborhood children instead of handing out candy. Much more personal.

This degradation and loss of meaning has happened to many holidays. Thanksgiging used to really be about giving thanks to God for our blessings. Now it is about football and start of the "holiday shopping sesason". Christmas, celebrating the birth of our Saviour, is now just a holiday season devoted to material posessions.

The word holiday is derived from the term "holy day".
