What you saw Don West do with the knock-knock joke (albeit stumbly bumbly) was a cognitive reset. When you ask an engaged listening audience (during debate), in this case a jury: “how many pancakes does it take to fill a canoe”? It’s like taking a massive cognitive eraser to a mental white board.

All prior thoughts are frozen, all ponderings of what you just heard stop; and, most importantly, your focus is unintentionally snapped into position, on the questioner, by the questioner.

It is a classic old school cognitive reset tool to get people to not only stop thinking about what was previous, but it actually wipes out memory. It’s just the way synapses fire – Awesome job by West regardless of how it made him look.

In my situation, I never had to go to trial as it was no billed as a self defense situation but I still did not get my weapon back. Right or wrong, my attorney recommended I not rock the boat. He was concerned that a different DA might look at the case if I attracted attention and decide to take it before the grand jury. So I put my tail between my legs and walked away from that 600 dollar gun.

All kidding aside, I bet he is so relieved he didn't just get a prison sentence, he doesn't give a durn about that gun.

I would go through the process to get everything back... publicly... just to spite the prosecution and other idiots.

I will say that I love your tenacity but I cannot claim I would do the same. I just don't know. It's a little different because he was tried and found innocent. They cant really do much else to him. I suppose he could be facing civil trials. I was no billed, which meant I could have been facing charges at the whim of a DA or prosecutor.

Heck... Maybe his movie deal will make him rich.

03LightningRocks, I'm with you. I'll walk away from a $600 gun if it will keep a prosecutor off my back. $600 trumps $60,000 in legal fees every time. A) I own multiple guns; losing one doesn't put me out of commission. B) I can buy another if I have to. Yes, it's a matter of private property rights. Yes, I should have the gun returned to me. But If it is my property to do as I see fit with it, then it's my right to choose to walk away from my property if it is to my advantage to do so.

Ben Jealous, the President of the NAACP, has issued a statement calling on the DOJ to pursue a civil rights case against Zimmerman. I don't think he has any idea the backlash that would hit them if the DOJ seriously considers doing this. Leave it alone, gentlemen. You lost the race baiting battle. Go somewhere and lick your wounds and think long and hard about why so many of your young are getting in trouble with the law and killing each other in the streets of America. It's time now for introspection, not vengeance.

I watch it as a form of anger management exercise. I get so mad I want to blast a hole through my TV. It is sort of the same thing as having a tooth ache and intentionally biting down on it.

For some weird reason, it is like watching a slasher movie for me. Truth is, watching it definitely keeps me up to date on what the lessor intelligent people in our society are being brain washed with. I figure if I want to defeat the enemy, I need to know what they are thinking.

My neighbors probably think I am having a loud argument in my house. I keep screaming at the morons on MSNBC.

I just received that email. I responded to the email that they should be ashamed of themselves. They are trying to capitalize on this situation to drum up financing for a cause that no longer has a need. The only racism in America these days is against white males.
