Grundy,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Just wanted to make sure you realized what info of yours they were mining. It's crazy how much info the companies are sucking up on us.

As with all of this stuff, it's hard to paint everything as being black or white or draw a hard line in the sand. Many times, we have to chose the lesser of two evils.

I still have FB, I don't advertise and I use it only to keep up with friends and family. My main posts are putting up some of the Memes we have here. I never use FB to sign in on any site. I will keep FB as a method of keeping friends close and your enemies closer.

I haven't had a facebook account in years. After the recent revelations, I'm glad about that too.

Yes he does, and he fights the good fight, effectively, with integrity.

I also unapologetically use FaceBook. It's a great way to keep in touch with extended family that is spread out between the coasts. I must admit they are a little invasive. I once got thrown off of facebook after someone turned me in for using a pseudonym. I had to send a Photo JPEG of my driver's license. with the name Liberty Spirit on it to.

Unfortunately, I do a lot of business with companies I have fundamental and moral disagreement with.
  • Bank of America.
    Comcast
    State of Texas
    Krogers
    HEB
Shucks, I've even had differences with a Charles Cotton esq.
    Almost every Industrial Safety Council
Some relationships I've modified or even terminated because I disagree with them. Sometimes it's just not worth fighting. What I won't do is let some inernet warriors dictate how I live my life and who I interact with.

"rlol" I would certainly enjoy viewing that! I've had a few interesting discourses on FB myself. One thing I've noticed about my adversaries, they almost always resort to insults, name calling and derisiveness when confronted with facts they are unable to refute. I always keep it polite and factual.

The very reason I got a FB account to begin with.
I also use it to keep up with other relatives and others in my profession.

99% of my FB usage is keeping up with my grown children and my grandson. I am in the process of deleting all posts I've made, pictures I've uploaded, any books, movies, TV shows or any other category of things I've "liked" on FB.

By the time we've all became aware of the tracking going on by FB, Google, etc any agency that is interested has us in its databases, doesn't matter much whether we continue to use FB. If every gun owner in America, say 100 million, deactivated their FB accounts tomorrow, do you think it would matter to Zuckerberg and friends? It might matter to the legions of people they've employed to hunt down and delete our "offensive" posts.

It melts the snow off their flakes fastest when I point out their logical fallacies - the ad hominems, non sequiturs, false dichotomies, etc. I love it :evil2:

I keep a document ready with handy quotes eg. from Heller that I can slap them with

"Well-regulated militia!" they squeal.
Copy/paste: "The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia" - US Supreme Court, DC v Heller 2008. Now ask me what "well regulated means.""

Boom with zero sweat.

If you've built a business dependent on FB, whilst remaining a Conservative, but see no way to stop using FB, all I can do is think: No imagination or creativity left in yer bones, eh?

Then I laugh and laugh.

No, I didn't want to ... fill in the blank (like join the commie party or some other group) but, it was my only way to survive, so please don't judge me. I had to join, honest...

Uh-huh...

Everyone has an excuse as to why they keep FB. Therefore nobody drops out and the numbers that FB sells to advertisers stays the same. Their income is not affected, we all provide them with new datamining material, etc. You want to keep in touch with your family, call them. E-mail them. Do that video phone call. Write them a letter and mail it. Does your business really depend on FB? Hope you are not into selling firearms if that's the case.

Arguing 2A issues is your thing. You are just being datamined into another group, until they stop allowing you to argue your thing. Are you changing any snowflake minds or is it just making you feel better?

I dropped my account. Will my dropping make a difference? Not by itself but Lamb in PA won an election by just a few hundred votes and put a democrat into office. Just a few hundred votes.

Either you talk the talk or walk the walk. So many just do the talk, like being brave about rushing into battle to save unarmed civilians. Talk the talk and claim to walk the walk. Not directing this at any one person but talk is cheap.

Ready for being flamed.

I have no social media accounts...other than LinkedIn, and only use that to see what's going on professionally.
After too many years as a foreign security contractor, I really DON'T want to have my life and my families life broadcast to the world.
Don't miss it at all.
