Let me see if I got this straight.
You were tailgating and almost rear-ended a guy, so you wanted to beat him up.
You didn't because your daughter was in the car. However, if she wasn't there, you were ready to commit aggravated assault.
If your assault victim tried to defend themself, you were willing to commit murder and shoot them.
Finally, thinking about murdering someone because of a traffic incident makes you LOL.

I encourage everyone to read your own words about what you might have done if your daughter wasn't there.03Lightningrocks wrote:Wow!!!! Not even close. I encourage everyone to read your response to aardwolf's comment about a victim defending themself.
I encourage everyone to form their own opinion.

Maybe you should try again as you suggest others do. First off, there was no tail gating. Second...nobody was going to murder anyone...that is a bit out there. The crack about beating the guy down was a joke...as you should be able to tell from the LOL.
But since you want to take it all to heart...maybe it will convince you to quit driving around flipping people off. Oh yeah...and quit stopping on exit ramps...it almost caused a pile up on the freeway last night.

Re: Road rage...
My first impression of what Lightening wrote was that he was laughing about the lesson he was going to teach this guy. The other driver was, obviously, doing something wrong, but that doesn't really justify "joking" about beating them.
My 7y daughter has begun asking me about make-believe scenarios having to do with beating someone up. She has seen on the news or commercials where an older woman has beat up a young person that tried to take their car or purse. She said that would be funny if it happened to me. We had to have a talk about how even making jokes about such things are unacceptable. Similar to the rule about pointing a gun at another person as a joke. You just don't do it. It's one of the rules.
Sorry, but that's my opinion.

Re: Road rage...
No need to be sorry about it...it is your opinion. I don't believe that kidding around about smacking a person in the third party is analogous to pointing a gun at someone. I wish I was so perfect that I could say I never thought, "boy I would like to smack that guy" but nope I'm not Jesus and don't pretend to be. I can say that I wouldn't normally act on these urges.C-dub wrote:My first impression of what Lightening wrote was that he was laughing about the lesson he was going to teach this guy. Oh, I've thought about it. Just about everyday at work. It is unbelievable the numbers of stupid people in the world. I just don't joke about it.
Look at what has happened to Dave Letterman. He thought he was just making a joke.
I've never liked him and this hasn't changed my opinion of him, but we all make mistakes. His only problem is that this was a taped show and they had every opportunity to pull the joke, but chose not to. We all make mistakes, but Dave's seem to be multiplying rapidly.

I certainly don't mean to get all PC on everyone. There's way too much of that these days as it is.

It's too cheap to pass up, regardless of where you're driving. In fact, since it's limited to the same amounts as your liability coverage, I pretty much always have liability way over the minimums so I can keep the UUMC coverage higher.Kawabuggy wrote:Be sure to specify "Non-Insured motorist" coverage as having that is like having a winning lottery ticket in your pocket that WILL be cashed very shortly.
Re: Road rage...
You know, it seems odd, but I don't really remember whether they had brights on all the time or not. Probably, because consideration for the other driver is not in the Saudi driving code. You seldom meet anyone coming head on (thank Allah!) because like I said above, all roads are one-way. Any kind of two way street without a dump-truck proof divider would be a meat grinder. One problem there was with driving at night outside the cities were camels wandering around loose. (yes really). They are usually black or dark brown, and they really absorb light, so at night it was easy to run up on one wandering across the highway.ClarkLZeuss wrote:Man, I gotta say, this incredible word picture had me laughing my brains out, to the point where my wife asked me, "Are you all right?" like I'm on drugs or something. I've heard, too, that in Saudi Arabia, people drive with their brights on...ALL the time. True?ELB wrote:Road ragers need to be sent to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for desensitization. Not that the Saudis and all the ex-patriates there are roadragers, its just that grossly excessive speed, cutting each other off, six cars across on four lane street, left turns from any lane of a multi-lane street, running reds, yellows, greens whatever, all horn and accelerator, no brakes...Inshallah...

There are some spectacular accidents tho.
I was in Abu Dhabi a few years ago, and traffic was much tamer and well mannered. Nothing like Saudi. Seems to be a unique place...

If you drive, occasionally you will encounter other drivers who either put you at risk or in some manner cause you annoyance.
Accept it that it WILL occur and when it does ignore it.
Honestly, it's that easy.
It's a matter of choice.
Or go bonkers and see just how much that helps...

Re: Road rage...
In some cases I would intentionally annoy someone while driving... Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the fact that while I am waiting to exit or making a turn, someone decides to cut through the traffic line to cut in front of me or anyone else the last minute. There's a certain leeway I can accept, but straight up bull cutting...nah...I dont' care if you signal and hold traffic for a few minutes, it ain't happening if I can help it.
If my posts sounds like I got a monkey on my back... it's actually a gorilla. Just don't get offended. :)

wholeheartedly. It WILL happen someday. Be the better person and make a non-issue out of it. it's not worth the consequences of doing anything else, except go into ignore mode.Abraham wrote:If you drive, occasionally you will encounter other drivers who either put you at risk or in some manner cause you annoyance.

So true....it is hard at times, but no doubt the best position one could take.
