So I was lucky enough to see Broussard open up for G. Love & the Special Sauce a few years back in Austin. I was blown away...

Lovely classical music on WETA (PBS station in Washington, DC), uninterrupted by commercials. Six speakers around and under my computer desk, including a woofer at my feet, and piped throughout my home music system, all starting from internet radio via my laptop. Hundreds, if not thousands, of sources available literally all over the world, of any genre preferred. Can put a CD in the laptop if desired.

I guess I'm weird. I'm a musician who plays 2-3 times a week, week in, week out, for years now... ...and I rarely ever just sit and listen to music. It's not that I don't like it, and I actually have a reasonably large and diverse collection of recordings (not to mention a fine collection of 33-1/3 albums). But I think that all the playing scratches the listening itch. So I tend to spend my down time listening/watching other things. I'm kind of a news junkie, so I'll usually have something news related on the TV or radio going in the background.

About the only time I listen to music for extended periods as a passive listener is when I'm driving long distances. Then I'll plug my iPod into the car stereo, set it on "shuffle", and listen to everything from Ray LaMontagne, to Stan Getz, to Charles Lloyd, to Mercy Me, to Jimi Hendrix, to Allison Krauss, the Allman Brothers, The Beatles, The Who, Anita Baker, Caedmon's Call, The Chieftains, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, Jethro Tull, John Mellencamp, The Subdudes, Neil Diamond, Otis Redding, Rush, Ry Cooder, Sarah Groves, Smokey Robinson, Tom Petty, Twila Paris, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Nickle Creek, the New Marines (my brother's old band), Bobby Vinton, and Louis Prima.... ...and that's not even a complete catalog of artists...

See what I mean?
“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”
