Why should others engage an armed criminal to retrieve her property when she wouldn't do it herself?

Getting through the parking lot alive is tough enough but a lot of people
let their guard down inside the store because they have a false sense of security.

The BG's are getting bolder by the day. We have to stay on alert 100% of the time.

I haven't wandered over that way too many times since I've been here but I definitely see why that area has the nickname of "Gunspoint". Thankfully she wasn't harmed. Property can be replaced.

Lets think about this and correct me if I'm wrong....
Let say that we are near the front of the store when a guy is walking toward the doors with a lady behind him stating he
just robbed her and has he a knife.
well, in my opinion if he is trying to flee, and doesn't have the knife out in a threatening manner or doesn't have a hostage or something, then he is no longer a threat and for any one of us to get involved and potentially be put in the position to where we have to draw on him seems silly to me. That being said I would keep a very close eye on him untill he is out of the store and maybe even off the property.
Lady, you got robbed, that sucks for you but what exactly would you like someone to do?
The only way I can see a CHL comming in handy in this situation is if the CHL holder is the one being held up or like I previously mentioned there was still some element of a threat. The way the story makes it sound is like he was just trying to get away and the lady had become the agressor....chasing through the store? Up and down isles? Really? If he
really wanted to hurt her he could have done so at any point while she was following him.

I would do the same.

I've always been one who tries to help someone in distress.
I would have followed the guy as far as I could and got a good description
and a license plate number if possible.

One time (long ago) a guy came running out of a RadioShack with some merchandise
in hand followed by a store employee running after him.

I recognized that it was a theft in progress.
When the guy was running past me I stuck my foot out and tripped the guy.
He did a face plant onto the sidewalk, the merchandise went flying, and the
store employee was able to sit on the guy until the Police arrived...That sure felt good.

USA1....that's too funny! I can just see someone all casually sticking his foot out while whistling and looking around aimlessly as if he were oblivious to the actions taking place. It quite on the Loony Tunes level, I love it!!

Whats truly amazing to me (and I guess it shoulnt be at this point) is how many of the people that posted comments think their safety is someone else's job.

Uhhh.....why do they even have them then? Protect the store?? They are under strict orders not to stop a shoplifter. This is almost funny.

Yes, to protect the store. The guy was not a shoplifter.
