My neighbour knocked on my door at 2:30am this morning. Can you believe that - 2:30 in the morning?!
Luckily for him I was still up playing my bagpipes.

Did he leave a dollar in the tip jar for his request?

If someone knocks on my door at 2:30, she better be really cute or I will be awfully grumpy.

Well, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that he was very complimentary about my playing.
He's New York Italian so it was pretty hard to make what exactly he was saying between all his yawns but I gathered that he enjoyed listening to my rendition of "Scotland the Brave" (I'd given it a bit of a modern kick by putting it through my guitar-amp so I could use the distortion-effect - pretty cool, huh?).
When I smiled and blushed and thanked him and went to close the door, he turned red (obviously overcome with emotion by my music) and started babbling and gesticulating as only Italians can - I couldn't understand a word by that stage, so to give him a gentle hint that I had enjoyed our little chat but that I really had to get back to practicing, I closed the door softly and went back upstairs. I also tweaked the volume up a wee bit more so he could easily enjoy it without straining.
I have such wonderful neighbors!
I'm sure that soon your relationship will mature to the point that you will get to see at least one of the items in his gun collection.

Y'all laugh, my neighbor knocked on my door at 2:30 am looking to bum smokes off me. I hear a knock at the door, grab my 9mm. I moved to the front room and asked who it was (from cover of course).
His Wife answered "it's your neighbors we need a favour".
So I eased up to the door and look through the peephole.
"Someone better be dead or dieing" I said.
So I cracked the door. Now here's where it gets really stupid. Out of the corner of my eye I see movement behind a patio chair. I draw down on the chair only to see my neighbor's Husband slowly stand up; I think his intent was to scare me. I depleted every expletive in my U.S. Army Infantry arsenault and then some.
"Uh I was just wondering if you had a few smokes I could bum."
I didn't think some one could turn so white that they resembled a shade of green.
My neighbor doesn't knock on my door anymore, at any time, am or pm.
This happened about a month and a half back. My Wife is still irritated at them.

I was under the impression that blowing your bag-pipes at 2AM or 2PM were both no-no's.
