The nest was raided....
A co-worker and I have had a pigeon nest right outside our office window for a few weeks now. The pigeon pair has been sitting on 2 eggs that by our calculation would have been due to hatch as early as this weekend. We setup a webcam on Friday to record the nest in case they started hatching over the weekend.
Saturday afternoon, instead of hatching, we caught this:

Darn shame, but I guess crows gotta eat too.

It was very disappointing for us and to those who have been following them. We've been streaming it live for about a week now, but only started recording the stream this weekend.
I did notice that if you look at the egg the bird punctures and eats out of, it looks like there's still a yolk in there instead of a baby bird. I'm thinking that for some reason the egg either wasn't fertilized or didn't develop.

I have seen a crow with a baby bird, they are quite the opportunists! that Pidgeon will likely come back and lay 2 more eggs and start sitting again, they can be persistant nesters.

Pigeons are just flying rats. JMO.
I am sorry that your camera did not catch a happier moment.

Some people I know have been watching a long term webcam out of Iowa
that features bald eagles and their babies. I don't know the web addy,
but it's out there somewhere.

Nature can be pretty fascinating sometimes.
My wife and I took a trip to Hawaii a few years ago and went to the Honolulu Zoo one day. While we were visiting the hyenas, a local pigeon like bird land in a hyena pen and started cleaning itself, completely oblivious as to where it was. I have never seen a critter eat another so fast as this hyena did. It was actually impressive.

Re: The nest was raided....
Yesterday when I got home qur neighbor was in the front yard. She asked me to look at a baby bird on the ground and see if it was a duck or other type of bird. It was small enough that I could not tell so I was going to take a pic and send to a freind of ours that is a bird enthusist. While taking the picture, a blue jay came down an smacked me in the head. Question answered.

The pigeon is like the US taxpayer and the crow is like the government eating our nest egg through deficit spending.
