Hey guys I have a WW2 Lugar in almost perfect condition with all matching serials and stamps, I also have the holster and I think I might even have some documentation, is there a place you guys could point me at to get reliable pricing and info on the different models? How would you recommend I go about selling something like this? I was thinking about walking around the Houston gun show or something.

Not in Houston but if your ever up D/FW way you might try these guys. They are pretty, ahem, "straight shooters" and know their stuff.

I wouldn't even remotely trust anyone at a gun show to give you an honest deal if you don't know exactly what you have. There is a ton of info on Lugers online and in print. If nothing else check out gunbroker just to see what is out there and general price ranges. I haven't checked recently on a Luger (I'm trying to build a WWII collection) but they seemed to start at around $900 and go on up to $20k depending on what it was.

As much as I would love to make an offer on your Luger I don't even remotely have the funds to even make an insulting offer. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find out about yours. I so need to win the lottery as I know where to get a pristine Johnson automatic as well. Friend of my parents who has had it forever and offered to sell it to me. MUST...WIN...LOTTERY!!!! :nopity

Going by the thread title, did you mean Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN), or did you mean Georg Luger, the inventor of the Luger pistol and the 9x19mm pistol cartridge? :smilelol5:

Collector's Firearms in Houston will be able to tell you exactly what you have. You can also look at their web site to get an idea B4 you go.

I thought George Luger did the Star Wars series.

:iagree: Go to Collectors and see what how much they will pay you. Then go to a gun show and try to sell it for 50% more than the amount Collectors offered you.

I would have no problem going to a gun show for an appraisal. You get probably 10-20 individuals giving you the 411 on the pistol. Of course I would walk through the door with no intention of selling. Just for the remarks and evals.

Avoid getting info on the gun from someone who might potentially buy it.

Avoid selling a gun at Collector's. They won't give you half what it's worth. Look up a Luger forum on the web, take some detailed pics and post a topic over there. They'll give you a ballpark figure. If I was selling it I'd go on Gunbroker and post it or put it here in the classifieds. Just looking at Luger's on GB... they are all going for over 1k. They have a commission over there but I'm not sure what it is.

Thanks guys for all the info, if you want to see pictures of the Luger you can visit this directory: http://mercedeselw.com/lugar" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I did end up finding the documentation for it and I think after doing some research its probably worth around 2-3.5k at best pricing. Thanks for all your help!
