i remember sometime ago he did an interview w/ Bob Costas telling him the he carries.

I used to have quite a bit of respect for Bob Costas prior to his stupid comment and very little respect for Barkley prior to seeing this interview. My opinion of both has changed.

i feel safer without it- johny Mc. yeah with your temper, it's a good idea!!! and some of us don't live in glen cove, long island with bodyguards!

In this interview, when describing how 60+ Colts of the 80 man football team had raised their hands in response to a question about them carrying guns he said

even if every one of those guys had a gun legally, you have to believe that more bad things than good are going to come of that.

Talk about fear mongering. And that belief was based on what?

And, Racism. What percentage of Colt's team members are black? Costas' statement insinuates that some? most? all? of the team members have illegal weapons. Does his statement also profile NFL players as criminals? That out of 65 gun owners some of them are going to get into trouble, in the general population those estimates are per 100,000, not 65.

Ignoring the question of race, it does seem like Professional Athletes get into more trouble than Professional Engineers, Medical Professionals, and many other professions.

It's because they are more violent. Look at the way all the NFL players keep hitting each other during the game. Look at the violence in hockey. It's rampant in sports and needs to be made illegal. Less violence in organized sports. What kind of lesson is that for our kids? We need legislation making violence in organized sports illegal.
