Baldeagle's comment in another thread got me thinking and figured this could use its own thread. It probably has been discussed before but let's give it another go.

It's actually funny to see a person whose only "knowledge" of guns comes from hollywood. My wife watches all of the law and order and CSI stuff. Well, I got her to shoot my EDC for the first time this weekend. I threw down one of those orange rubber reactive targets to make it a little more fun for here. I told her to stand "here", which is about 5 yards from the target. She told me that she didn't think she needed to stand THAT close, and that she knew how to aim and shoot. I chuckled and told her to stand wherever she would like. She was about 15 yards away and made no hits on target. She was surprised.

On an episode of Castle, they actually showed a BG lift his thumb up over the back of a Glock and pull the hammer back.

On another show I recently saw a guy rack a double barrel shotgun (actually, you just heard the noise, but his hand was moving forward when they cut to him).

Racking a double barrel is a favorite on "The Simpsons" - every time I hear it I chuckle.

That's Mo's gun of choice - I laugh as well.

I hate it when they "cock a Glock," or "click, click, click" an empty striker fired pistol. Racking a shotgun more than once for effect.

you should know tho, that the sounds you are hearing are not what was recorded on the set, but are being added later in post-production.

Correct, it's called Foley art and I saw how they do some of it at Universal.

And the guy who rolls across the parking lot while three bad guys spray the place with full auto, and comes up and nails one or more with one shot each, and then gets in a gunfight with the principle BG and misses over and over and over.

Mine would be the 8ft horizontal jump through the air firing handguns in both hands and scoring hits on BGs.

Yes and enjoying it much more this year now that the "voting" drama has been eliminated.
