Lone Survivor Movie

#1

Post by WildBill »

Lone Survivor, the movie is opening this weekend. I liked the book and look forward to seeing the movie.

I heard Marcus Luttrell, Navy SEAL and author of Lone Survivor, on the radio this afternoon talking about the movie.

He said that the movies sights and sounds were portrayed accurately.

That book was hard to read once you got about midway into it. That guy will never get back from his country what he gave it.

:iagree:

After reading the book I have mixed feelings about seeing the movie...but I will, if for no other reason than out of respect and honor to these great men.

Looking forward to seeing this. It's been highly praised by Chris Kyle's wife.

I saw it tonight, at the first showing.

I have not read the book, but I am going to see if I can find it tomorrow.

It is one of the most awe inspiring movies that I have ever seen. I recommend that everyone go and see it if they can.

The movie is well written, and from what I have heard, it is fairly spot on with the book, although they had to cut the gun fight down by about 5 hours.

The things that ol boy went through, I couldn't imagine, both in and out of service.

I do recommend using the restroom once the lights dim, as there will be about 15 mins of previews, you do not want to miss anything.

I've read both of his books and think both are good. The things that he went through are unimaginable. It's been several years since I've been to a movie theater but I already have tickets for the 2:25 show in New Braunfels this afternoon!

We saw the movie last Tuesday night at the pre-showing here in Plano. Marcus was there and gave opening remarks. The book is always better but I must say this movie is jaw droppingly good, too. It's funny, the parts of the book that affected me the most didn't so much in the movie but other parts in the movie did.

On the radio interview yesterday afternoon Marcus Luttrell was saying that he has to half surgeries every year to help his various injuries. He's an amazing person.

I saw this youtube video, which is what caused me to get the book. I'll be seeing the movie this weekend.
I almost tear up every time I hear him speak. I thank God that he gifted the human race with at least a smattering of such people. Would that there were more like him, and fewer of some others.

I just finished the book a couple of days ago, and started right in to "Seal of Honor: Operation Red Wings and the life of Lt. Michael P. Murphy (USN)". Lt Murphy was Luttrell's commanding officer and was one of the 3 who died in the mission Luttrell was on. Lt Murphy was posthumously awarded both the Silver Star AND the Medal of Honor, for his part in the operation which resulted in his death, and Luttrell's many injuries.
