The main thing wrong with this picture is....if it were armed white guys in front of a sign for her opponent, the left would be screaming "voter intimidation" all over the place!

It could be a thermal or digital scope judging by the looks. If so, that explains why it looks backwards. Of course, seeing how he as a grenade launcher, it could just be a prop for him to look cool and is actually mounted backwards.
