It appears the Services were also against this bill as they are concerned about retention. Retaining trained people is critical to mission readiness. Ever hear of Stop Loss?McCain, along with Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Richard Burr of North Carolina, has introduced an alternative bill that would increase education benefits on a sliding scale based on an individual's years of service. McCain argues his bill would have a smaller impact on retention rates than the legislation that the Senate passed.

This falls into the category of "don't assume everyone knows what you've known for a long time".
McCain, for many years, has been the biggest obstructionist against POW/MIA investigation and/or recovery. I thought that was common knowledge.
I don't necessarily subscribe to the conspiracy theories as to why, but his actions and votes in that area are undeniable.

How many people here would accept the lesser of 2 horrible choices in terms of gun control?bdickens wrote:Well, gee, what's the alterantive? Osama, I mean Obama?
Do you want to get rid of all rifles or all handguns? Oh neither?
Why do people accept that in politics even if they would never accept it in other areas of their life? If all of the people who look at presidential elections as a choice between the "lesser of 2 evils" decided to vote 3rd party, donated $20 to a 3rd party, and put up a yard sign for a 3rd party the political climate of this country would change before the next presidential election came around.

Yes, but not enough have the courage of their convictions, and many remember Perot's run.tallmike wrote:How many people here would accept the lesser of 2 horrible choices in terms of gun control?bdickens wrote:Well, gee, what's the alterantive? Osama, I mean Obama?
