When I finally was in the market to purchase an AK I had asked a coworker who was in the gun industry for many years prior to moving to Texas to be on the look out for me an AK. I told him I had about $400 to spend but that I could be flexible. That was about 6 months prior to the recent presidential election and he found a Maadi AK-47 for $400($380 but I gave him a tip for finding it for me). He found it from an individual through the "grapevine" of acquaintances he has in the gun world and I am perfectly pleased with it! It came as you see it in the photo: scope, 2 30rnd mags and a 50 round mag (50 rounder had a price tag from what looked like a gun show still on it). Part of the rear iron sight is gone(was when I got it... to make room for the scope t would seam) and I have since removed the scope and replaced it with a Red Dot Sight/Laser. The only problem I ever had with it was when I used a newly acquired 75 round drum mag... I did not lock the drum in place so it was not feeding correctly. That was an error on my part and has never done it a second time. I thought about changing the wood on it, but I like the classic AK style look.

Thanks Moonpie for the link to the AK Forum I have lots of reading to do :)! Come to find out scanning briefly through that forum it is in the 2nd to the top tier of Maadis.

I would say buy it if the price is right. People are paying $600-$700 for WASR-10/63s so if you can get a Maadi for close to that then you are wayyyy ahead of the game. I am not super well versed in that particular variation, but I do know that they are solid. :thumbs2:

Nice buy! I like the 20 rd. mags. The mag seating is sometimes difficult on AK's. It's not pistol-like, ala AR's.

Maadi's are AKM's built in egypt on soviet tooling. Personally, i'll take a chicom ak over a maadi any day, but the maadi's are as close as you will get to a russian rifle.
