A real piece of art. I like the checkering.

Ooooooh! I've seen those, I love the stainless/gray combo!

My nephew has one in .450 Marlin. I asked him how it shot. He was 17 at the time, about 6'3" and 265 pounds, and said, "Oh, it kicks a bit."

That is one good looking lever action! I'd love to have one. I love buckhorn sights on rifles to begin with, and the 20" barrel is a great length. But at prices beginning at $615.00 and it goes up from there, I'll have to pass.

I've been wanting a .44 mag in a lever action for a while now. You are very lucky to have such a nice example.

I have the blued one. Marlin 1894s in .44 Mag tend to run large in the bore. Some are hard to get to shoot accurately. If you reload I highly suggest Beartooth bullets ordered sized .432, 265, 280, & 300gr WFN and keep 'em hot :fire with that slow twist rate. In factory ammo try the Federal or Grizzly Cartridge with 300gr lead.

That is a stunningly beautiful rifle, but why use a pistol cartridge in a rifle?

What do I not know?

Weren't they made in pistol cartridges so only one type of ammo had to be carried? You know, back in the old west.

C-dub,

Right.

However, if I were to invest in a beautiful rifle like that I'd want it in a rifle caliber.

I realize I'm not very knowledgable about pistol calibers used in rifles, but it seems to me that it would be underpowered except, perhaps, at close range.

Anybody know?
