killing a deer at 1/2+ mile. I think I would be happy killing a barn at that range.

If you don't mind buying used, check out http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthr ... p?ubb=cfrm.

Here is a Sako TRG-42 complete with Sako bipod, rail and brake, Leupold Mark 4 Scope and Rings, as well as .338 LM ammunition, Lapua brass, Lapua bullets, and Redding Dies. The guy is asking $5,200 for the package, which is a pretty good deal, but still a lot of money. LINKEY

Are you sure you want a .338 Lapua Magnum?

That's one serious cartridge. My suggestion would be, if not done already, to do Appleseed clinics with more mainstream calibers until the operator proves ability to do justice to the equipment. And the deer.

Savage makes a .338L that won't break the bank. The model is 110 BA. It is in their Law Enforcment series but they do not have any restrictions about selling to civillians. MSRP is $2267.00, street price a little less.
