Stag Arms - Good quality or not?

Post by EyeToEye »

I hear alot about RRA, DPMS, Colt, etc. but do not here to much about Stag Arms posted here. Do they make a quality ar15? Would they be a medium or lower level firearm? Is the gun worth the cash price?

Mid range. A Sgt I work with swears by his - he loves it.

Thanks for the responses.

Does anyone know who carries Stag in the Houston and/or surrounding areas?

I built three ARs from Stag lowers. They function fine.

An earlier post suggested ARF.com. Good advice. That is where I purchased mine.

The worst thing I have heard about them is that some hate the logo.

The logo don't affect the shooting.

Most people don't know that Stag actually builds a lot of components for major AR-15 assemblers (even Colt). I have used their components for many years and never had a single issue.

I put a Stag flat top on my lower and what a rifle it turned out to be. I got the flat top right from Stag for $450 shipped to my door. They got it to me fast. If I decide to build any more M$'s, it will be a Stag upper, quality is supurb.

Thanks all for the input. I am thinking very seriously about a Stag model 2T or 2TL. The price points seem to be inline with what has been posted about the quality.

It all depends on the details in my opinion. If you build a DPMS with all of the lowest end (cheapest options) you will get what you pay for. If you build a DPMS with good quality stuff, it will be a solid rifle.

Components are important. A lower from DPMS, RRA, Stag, or Colt are all pretty much the same. What matters is the quality of everthing else you strap to it, and how well it all works together.

Ex-Marine friend of mine also swear by his. I'd like to get one, but I can't afford it right now...

The difference between the 2T and the 2TL is that the TL is for a left-handed shooter. Are you sure about your model numbers? Or maybe I'm mistaken...

Stag is middle of the road, and the pricing is commensurate. If you can save up a tad more scratch, BCM would be a fine choice.

Of course, it depends on your intended purpose for the rifle.
