I have a savage axis .308 with a Nikon scope. Damn good shooting gun and accurate as the savage reputation! Got my limit on whitetail last year and the fell where they stood at impact! :anamatedbanana

I got a Savage Axis in .308 and 30.06 for leaving in the four wheeler at the ranch. $269 at Walmart. They do what they are supposed to with nothing fancy. I'm not worried about banging them around. I have a model 10 in .308 with all the goodies and the long barrel, the only difference I can see is the Accutrigger. The one on the Axis works just fine, maybe closer to 5# rather than 3.5#. It goes bang when you pull it. The barrels on all of them are free float. Accuracy is great.
