Del-Ton Rifle Kits

#1

Post by txfireguy2003 »

Okay folks, I ran across a post on here a few days ago that recommended another member purchase an AR upper from Del-Ton inc. so I looked into the company. They seem to have great reviews everywhere online, but I don't know any of those people, and I trust you guys. So, has anyone purchased one of their complete rifles, one of their kits, lowers? I'm looking at buying my second AR (sold the last one a few years back to get out of a tight spot) but don't want to pay the inflated prices. The Del-Ton kit seems to be a good alternative, although I will have to wait, which is no big deal to me. I have the rifle I want from them in mind and spec'd out, total price, including stripped lower is somewhere around 700-750 plus my time to put her together. So, does anyone here have any experience with Del-Ton kits? Thanks guys.

Interested as well. I looked over their site and will probably order from them when I get ready to.

I'm beginning to wish I'd ordered from them. I ordered an upper from Model1Sales on December 9, 2008. I'm still waiting. I have had very poor response from Model 1, and am fairly disgusted with them at this point in time.

Wow. I ordered my upper from Del-ton a week after the election and got mine in about 6 weeks.

Similar situation here. I ordered a 20" upper on November 3rd (the day before the election) and it arrived in late December. I've been pleased with the rifle and I would buy from them again.

I have built two rifles using Del-ton. One was a Del-ton upper on a DPMS lower kit. The second was a Del-ton rifle kit with a stripped DPMS lower. Both work great.

I ordered a complete upper in late January. I'm still waiting. I was told, at the time, that I was number 700something in line.
they haven't charged ye olde card just yet, though.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

Great, thanks guys! I had heard lots of good things about them, and a very few referring to them as "bottom feeders". I would say just about all of the negative posters were from people who had never fired one, and they were just basing their oppinions on price alone. I guess you actually can't judge a book by the cover...well, not all of them anyway. Now that I have the blessings of fellow Texans, and people who know their way around a firearm, I feel a lot better about placing an order.

Del-ton is definitely not a bottom feeder. They have quality stuff. You might also check out Garrison Manufacturing.

Definitely stay away from Blackthorne unless you're looking for a beater gun.

The people that call 'em "bottom feeders" are people that think that anything less than the best (i.e. LMT) are nothing but crap. Which I think is not true.
