What are your thoughts on this firearm? http://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/carbine ... 095TS.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've read the forums asking AR vs AK. For home defense I have a shotgun or handgun, and thus I thought about this very ugly firearm. You can get it that takes Glock mags, and it'd be a great size for the hallways and room clearing.
If I'm going to have to climb on the roof to take out hoards of Zombies, I'll grab my .270 and start taking them out. Would a .22lr take out a Zombie?????...Anyways, for practical home defense, would the Hi-Point Carbine be a good choice? Oh, Gold Dots are must

Re: Hi-Point carbine??
I have a 995TS (same rifle in 9mm) and I really like it.
It is surprisingly accurate and has virtually no recoil at all, even with +P+ ammo.
Be aware the trigger is made of plastic and has a very heavy pull. The internals are an interesting study in low-cost engineering, although it does seem to be stoutly built.
If I had it to do over again, I would probably still buy it or the 4595TS.
BTW, they have a forum here: http://www.hipointfirearmsforums.com/Forum/index.php

Re: Hi-Point carbine??
I'm sure more money but I would look at the Beretta CX4 in any caliber. They are less ugly and very stout. Accurate out to 100yds easily and the same size just better fit/finish/quality. I am not a huge fan of Hi-point anything but they work from what I know of.

Re: Hi-Point carbine??
I just picked up a hipoint 995 from a private seller on TGT a bit over a week ago. this one has a BSA red dot, which itself isn't anything to speak of.
I took it to the range last friday and ran three versions of lead handloads through it. somewhere around 100rounds. no feed, fire, or eject problems.
at 25yrds shooting off a table it was ~3" groups, at 50yrds ~6" groups.
that said, the thing was a total BLAST to shoot. I highly recommend one to anyone, especially if you reload and can plink those rounds cheaply.
yes, the trigger seems horrible. but once you start shooting strings you notice it quite a bit less. the recoil is minor yet quite fun. I think it is a great knock-around gun.
I emailed hipoint asking them for part numbers and cost for a rear sight assembly. Mine didn't have one, just the BSA & some kind of stamped steel rail.
... they went ahead and sent me one WITHOUT charging me. free. yep. great customer service (hasn't shown up yet though, still enroute). did I mention I'm not the original owner nor even asked for a freebe?

I have the earlier 995 model with a few hundred rounds throught it. Not a single problem and I've really enjoyed shooting it. If yours ever has problem just send it in to High Point and they will repair it under waranty!
