Remington 870 Express w/2-shot extender

#1

Post by Pop »

I recently purchased a Remington 870 Express w/18 in barrel (4+1) 12-gauge. I then purchased a TacStar 2-shot extender at a gun show. I've attempted to file down the two dimples in the magazine tube, which, I understand, Remington has now started installing in their new models. But when I install the 2-shot extender, the spring/plastic cap hangs in the extender. It looks like the magazine tube has 4 threads and the extender has 6 threads thereby leaving a small gap inside the tube. I believe this is where it is catching. I contacted TacStar and they said I could ship it back to them and they would examine the extender. I've also thought about taking it to a gunsmith. But before I do either, I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before or has any suggestions.

I would'nt feel comfortable trusting my life to a shot that I had to modify the magazine on.
