Is it vanity, or am I just gloating...

Yep, after ten long years, and the ups and downs of our economy and various other factors...

I have worked out a deal and in about 6 weeks, I will have the ultimate in long range, high caliber bang bang...

Yep, its expensive, and yes, I do believe myself to be a vain son of a gun, but hey, I have a history of being just that...

One of my CHL newbies is a video expert and wants to document the new arrival and I guess I'll post the link here in about a month or so, and get some true to form colorful metaphors and other negativities of a jealous nature, I won't name any names here... :thumbs2:

Going to have to come up with a neat nick name for this new riffle sometime soon...

So the plot thickens, and the air stiffles...

What else is new...

Pictures to follow when I take delivery...

Frustrating...Now I got to go buy ammo for this artillery piece...BTW, this won't be my first dance with this type of riffle, but to have one I call my own...hehehe, I just have to be giddy like a kid at Christmas now...

Wonder if CTD carries any depleted uranium core rounds??? Got to start thinkun' ahead on these issues!!! Dirnit!!!

Maybe even some AP...Yeah, that might be fun on some of the heaps we have up on blocks up at the farm...Personally I don't believe a word about being able to put one through an engine block myself...But I'm sure as the sun comes up and goes down everyday, I'll give it a go!!!

Now....For something completely different... :smilelol5:

If it is a 50BMG, good luck finding a range than allows it...of course shooting on private land's a possibility...

A true, long range, Zombie killer, if it is .50 cal.

A half inch of pure pleasure.

True enough in Texas.

I have a friend in New Mexico with a .50.

You might have to go there for some real unrestricted open range shooting.

I'd be happy to accompany you on a location scouting mission.

I don't know about ranges around Houston that allow them. I believe Tac Pro shooting center does, but that would be a bit of a drive.

Well, y'all be right on the gun thing, and the gloating... ;-)

As far as where I can shoot this thing, Dietz's in New Braunfels is an option...If I recall, they have an 800+ yard lane available for .50's and anyother long range shooting...Its been a while since I have been there...

And our family has a little place up north that has about 900 yards in a north south oriented tree bordered field where I could quickly setup a berm and some targets to see how much the coriolis effect does at some extreme ranges...

I'm not sure if the 600 yard range at ASC out in West Houston would do, if I could even bring it out there to sight in and then take it down for soem work on that particular lane...

We'll have to see I suppose...

Best of the West Range NW of Austin has a 1000 yard range. Very nice place to shoot.

I can't believe your significant other let you do this! You better be for getting her something nice to make up for it.

I shot a .50 on a 200 yard range once. Distance wasnt the problem. The shockwave and cloud of dust after each shot was the problem.
