Interested in what you guys shoot/like in surplus bolt guns.
The obvious and easy answer is the Mosin Nagant, and they're cheap enough that it makes sense.
In the closer to ~300 dollar range, what do yall think of the SMLE or Yugo 24/47? Anyone have either gun?
Been eyeballing both and considering that black gun prices are going to be insane this year and I already have black guns, been thinking this might be the year to get into the old stuff.
I could pick up a Mosin and either a 24/47 or SMLE for not too much.
Any opinions?

All three are rock solid old school battle rifles. The MN is being sold at almost give away prices between the Yugo Mauser and the SMLE I would have to flip a coin both are great rifles and I have a soft spot in my heart for both.

This is why I can't decide which to get. You're not helping.

I'm partial to my SMLE No4MKI. The bolt cocks on closing which makes for smooth, fast operation. Ammo is a bit pricey so plan on reloading.
I do have plans for a K98 at some point and a 1903A3. All in good time.

Where did you get your SMLE? I found several sites selling yugo 24/47s, but not having as much luck finding SMLEs....

You might want to look into Swede Mausers and K31.

Eventually I may!
Looking at availability though, I think I might be going with the Yugo 24/47 and a Mosin 91/30.

The mosin and the VZ are no brainers and the K31 is a real bargain gem. No one really knows the Schmidt Rubin k31so they can still be had reasonably.

I wouldn't have any objections to a lightly used M40-A5:
If anyone knows where I can pick up a left handed one on the cheap, PM me.

Well, you got me there. I guess I should have specified "sub ~$400" surplus bolt guns.
