New Mossberg 500

#1

Post by 74novaman »

I didn't have a shotgun, so I picked up this Mossberg 500 Persuader last week.

5+1 capacity, and it even came with the pistol grip only to install if I start feeling thuggish. :biggrinjester:

In all seriousness, I'm keeping the stock on it.

The reason I chose the 500 over the 870 is simple. I'm a lefty, and the Mossberg is easier to operate than an 870 is for me.

Not planning on adding anything to it. I think a home defense shotgun should be light and handy, and this fits the bill perfectly in stock form.

Sorry for the terrible cell phone picture...but its a black shotgun. Not like yall haven't seen one before. ;-)

How does the ventilated heatshield make it more efficient?

I added the Knoxx recoil reducing stock on mine.

I would expect nothing more from my "870's rock" friend. Bring yours on Sunday and we can do a comparison as to how they shoot side by side. :tiphat:

Salty1,

I did not want to let you down

I will bring the 870 on Sunday, as well as slugs for the 200 yard targets :woohoo

I have to say I finally get the shotgun thing.

Its low capacity and old school, but like my lever action it is light and handy.

I think it will make a fine home defense addition. I am very pleased that I decided to pick one up.

I love mine. I've got a AR style stock with a sidesaddle and a side saddle attached to the opposite side of the gun and a Blackhawk sling. Its perfect for home defense.

Picked up an ATI side folding colapsible stock for my 500. Also attached a light using a small rail that secures to the magazine tube. Next thing I'm getting is a breacher style 18 inch barrel. They had the barrel as new item that will be available according to the mossberg catalog from the shot show this year, but I have not seen them anywhere.

Love my Mossy, it is my range shotgun for skeet and trap, and my HD shotgun. I just put in the improved cylinder tube at home, and 5 - 00 bucks in the magazine, cruiser ready mode by the bed.

I bought it used for very little money, and although I'd like to put an 18" cylinder barrel on it, can't see spending more than the gun cost to get one. :smilelol5: Maybe someday.

This evening our club, Brazos River Gun & Archery Club, is having it's first skeet & trap under the lights shoot. It ought to be fun. :thumbs2:
