This is the first part to arrive. Always wanted a A2 style rifle, long story short it should begin to be built this weekend. I'll be using mainly USGI surplus parts except for the lower and lower parts kit. Stay tuned for updates
Having some technical issues with resizing this photo as I'm posting from a iPad for the first time

Re: Starting A2 Build
Started building her on Saturday Morning. Got the lower completed and some of the upper done but due to having a little too much fun on Friday night I had to stop. Sunday Afternoon we got her all buttoned up and all seems to work well via function test but too late to make a TC Range trip. All in all it went fairly well, made a couple newbie mistakes as expected since this was my first complete AR build. Stock and Handguards were rode hard and put up wet, fixed that with some rattle can paint.
Parts:
Brand new Un-issued FN A2 barrel and front sight
Surplus refinished Colt A2 Upper
BCG that came with A2 kit
Charging handle from my Sig 516(Replaced it with Bravo Co)
Surplus stock and handguards
S&W M&P lower
Daniel Defense lower parts kit
Surplus A2 flash hider

I can see the whole picture. Good looking rifle.LongHairedRedneck wrote:I've re-sized this pic and tried everything but it keeps popping up cut off, help please
I still have an AR lower that needs to be build into a rifle but I can't decide if I want to do a 20" A2/A4 style rifle, M4gery or midlength.

Re: Starting A2 Build(Update - Finished Pics)
Took it to the ranch and basically mag dumped 140 rounds of 5.56/.223 ammuntion. Last magazine was a torture test 20 round magazine with a combonation of .223 55gr NBT, 55gr FMJ, 5.56mm 62 gr Lake City "Green tip", 62 gr ATI FMJ , .223 75gr Match and 75gr Hornady FPD. Only malfunction out of all rounds was a bad primer on a ATI 5.56 round. She shoots great and was exactly what I was expecting/needing.
Well I finally got around to actually being able to hit the range and get the rifle sighted in. Used the military 25 meter/300 meter zero target mechanical zeroing process. Worked well, assume thats why they do it that way.

Re: Starting A2 Build(2ndUpdate - Range Report)
I built myself a A2 from a Sarco M16A2 parts kit a while back - without a doubt one of my all time favorite rifles.
