Louisiana: legislative alert

#1

Post by KBCraig »

I happen to be sitting in Louisiana this week, stuck at a casino in Marksville for a conference. When you don't gamble or party, and the casino is the only thing happening in a town of less than 6,000, it's pure boredom. Thank Heavens for the internet connection!

Anyway, from the Louisiana pages of the opencarry.org forum, I found this link to pending LA legislation that is important to anyone who votes here.

Here are several bills to focus on right now.
1. HB68 (Vote NO!) Richmond has re-introduced his assault weapon ban that we defeated last year.
2. HB199 (Vote YES!) Wooten has introduced a bill that authorizes concealed handgun permit holders to carry concealed handguns on college campuses.
3. SB142 (Vote YES!) Scalise has introduced a bill that Provides for the confidentiality of certain information submitted to the deputy secretary of public safety of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to obtain a concealed handgun permit.
4. SB51 (Vote YES!) Mcpherson has introduced a bill that protects workers from repercussions if they have a legally owned weapon in their vehicles for self defense.
5. HB399 (Ambiguous) Wooten has introduced a bill that amends the concealed carry statute regarding training requirements and reciprocity.
6. HB78 (Vote NO!) Richmond has introduced a bill that prohibits certain offenders from possessing an assault weapon.
7. HB72 (Vote NO!) Badon has introduced a bill that bans the selling of knives in convenience stores.
8. HB75 (Vote NO!) Badon has introduced a bill that establishes a state ballistic fingerprint database and databank.
9. HB76 Badon has introduced a bill to send more information to the FBI.
10. HB529 (Vote NO!) Monica has introduced a bill creating the crime of unlawful possession of a handgun while riding a motorcycle.
