Although Bruen concerns a New York law, the Bruen majority specifically identifies California as one of six States that has an analogue to New York’s “proper cause” standard. … Accordingly, it is the Attorney General’s view that the Court’s decision renders California’s “good cause” standard to secure a permit to carry a concealed weapon in most public places unconstitutional. Permitting agencies may no longer require a demonstration of “good cause” in order to obtain a concealed carry permit.

On June 24 New Jersey responded to the ruling by ending its “justifiable need” requirement for concealed carry permit issuance.
New Jersey acting Attorney General Matt Platkin released a directive which said, in part: “In reviewing an individual’s application for a permit to carry, the applicable law enforcement agency shall continue to ensure that the applicant satisfies all of the criteria of N.J.S.A. 2C:58-4d and N.J.A.C. 13:54-2.4, except that the applicant need not submit a written certification of justifiable need to carry a handgun.”
The life of crime is getting more dangerous by the day.

And yet, they are shifting the subjective standard to requiring the applicant to "be of good moral character" to bypass the subjective "good cause" requirement. Nothing has changed and it will still be impossible to get a CCL in CA.

And IIRC, New Jersey requires three letters of character references.

California issues permits per county. I believe a few more counties will now make it easier to get a carry permit, but yes, the most leftwing counties will still find ways to block people being able to carry.

New Jersey AG just issued a letter that "show cause" is no longer required. And, NJ does not distinguish between resident and non-resident.

But the [California] AG's office concludes that the existing statutory requirement "that a public-carry license applicant provide proof of 'good moral character' remains constitutional," and that this requirement isn't limited to disqualifying felons, certain violent misdemeanants, and the like. And in particular the AG's office suggests that people who hold certain ideological viewpoints should be disqualified……
As to how law enforcement is to figure out such matters, the AG's office has some advice: Among other things,
As a starting point for purposes of investigating an applicant's moral character, many issuing authorities require personal references and/or reference letters. Investigators may personally interview applicants and use the opportunity to gain further insight into the applicant's character. And they may search publicly-available information, including social media accounts, in assessing the applicant's character. [Emphasis added.]
The commies are going to fight this tooth and nail, and drag it out for YEARS, because they know that they cannot ultimately prevail when the people have the power to say no. We'll win in the end, but it’s going to take a long time, and cost a lot of money.

Just look at what New York just did. Now, for those folks outside the "City" life just got a lot harder and many more places off limits. Seems their legislature and Governor think the world revolves around one city and their views that peasants should not be allowed to carry anywhere.

And the Governor of Delaware just signed 5 new gun-control bills into law, including an AWB. The lines are being drawn for a national divorce.

Yes, indeed, and that's one of the reasons we have the Electoral College, so that a handful of big cities cannot decide who runs the nation.
