Shooting to protect property in California

I wonder why they don't have a poll asking if it was OK for this guy to shoot at a crook running away with money.

Seconds later, the images show the suspect running off with the bag, dropping his soda, the courier running after him, gun drawn.

'The courier was able to shoot twice at the vehicle, I guess as the suspect got in, busted out one of the windows,' said Los Angeles Police Department Public Information Officer Norma Eisenman.

If it were you or me, we'd have been arrested. Period. The courier, on the other hand, was probably licensed as some kind of armed security and was within his legal rights to fire at the thief while in pursuit.

I guess that, under California's twisted (and elitist) reasoning, you may kill someone to protect your employer's property, but not your own. :grumble

It's like how Heller was allowed to have a gun in DC to protect other people and their property but not his own life.
