Across the country, lawmakers are debating whether universities should let students and faculty with permits carry their concealed weapon on campus. Those who want to put an end to such gun-free zones have found an unlikely hero in a petite, soft spoken, young woman who wonders why colleges protect most Constitutional rights, but not the one that matters most when staring into the face of a violent criminal.

This lady is a very good spokesperson for concealed carry, and not just on campus. She is very articulate and has a good head on her shoulders.

The only question is How and How soon.........

.
. Will it take the anti's to vilify her...... To imply in some way she is evil or simply misguided and biased.

She is a rape victim. They cannot vilify her. They will portray her as misguided.bronco78 wrote:The only question is How and How soon.........

Every time I read stories about campus carry it's always portrayed as "...allow students and faculty to carry handguns....". What about us staff? What are we? Chopped liver?
This whole issue has me irritated beyond belief. All of the lies, misstatements, omissions and faulty information that the media disseminates routinely hit home much harder when the issue affects you personally and you know what's being "reported" is untrue.

I understand your concern, but I don't think that it's intentional. If you think about "hospital carry" the first thing that probably comes to mind is "doctor", even though doctors are probably in the minority in the total number of people working in a hospital.baldeagle wrote:Every time I read stories about campus carry it's always portrayed as "...allow students and faculty to carry handguns....". BTW, your statement "What Are We. Chopped Liver?" sounds like a good title for an editorial or letter to the editor.

I think many do not understand "faculty" and "staff" are two separate groups. They associate them as one in the same. ie, in the eyes of most folks there are only two groups in this fight.. Students and faculty.
Had I not been a member of faculty at a State school in Oregon, I may not have understood that point of difference either.

Actually, it seems that when our legislators think about hospital carry the first thing they think of is "drugged-up patients shooting up the ER," since they want to exclude hospitals from campus carry. They don't seem to much care about healthcare providers defending themselves.WildBill wrote:I understand your concern, but I don't think that it's intentional. I had not thought about drugged up patients.hirundo82 wrote:Actually, it seems that when our legislators think about hospital carry the first thing they think of is "drugged-up patients shooting up the ER," since they want to exclude hospitals from campus carry.
