I think that is a great idea. Why don't we expand the student decision process to other Amendments, too. The student body can define for themselves what constitutes free speech and the parameters for unlawful search and seizure.Why not allow the individual universities to determine for themselves whether or not to accept concealed handguns on campus? Put the issue up for a student referendum, hold informational meetings and debates and let the students decide

My question to them is this:And, if this legislation is forced on the student body, and when it fails to decrease but rather increases violence, TheEast Texan willjoin SGA and Faculty Senate in saying "We told you so."
When it DOESN'T result in more violence...will you be intellectually honest enough to come back and say "We were wrong"?
Smart money says....they won't.

Edited for the same proposition, but different Constitutional Amendment to see how it lookschasfm11 wrote:I think that is a great idea. Re: A&M Commerce Editorial: Guns on campus will be blunder
The student voting thing got me thinking. Maybe they can take a page from American Idol and let the students vote professors that they don't like off.
Wait.... my creative juices are flowing. Maybe we can expand that voting to the whole population of Texas? Naw, we already did that and the process elected representatives who are supposed to campus carry bill in the Legislature. Of course, we don't want to let them get in the way of the students decision making and self determination.

Be sure to vote in the poll ... right side of the page
http://www.theeasttexan.com/editorial-g ... -1.2075125" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Do you think guns should be allowed on campus?
Yes 37 % (13)
No 60 % (21)
I don't care 3 % (1)
Total number of votes: 35
I love the way questions are asked prejudicially.
(Advocacy in wording)
If we answer "no" do they take away the guns the police have?
I mean ... if no guns are allowed ...
I think Billy, Cindy, and Mary Gun should be allowed to matriculate, so yes.
