Action Needed: Our house bill (HB. 750) WILL BE DEAD if not scheduled by Monday to be heard on the floor. Please call, email and fax these house members immediately and ask them to schedule HB 750 and HB 2178 (decriminalization) for a vote on the floor. If they are not scheduled Monday, they are dead. We can focus on SB354 again after this is done.

Done. Repeated my earlier rationale, and thank them for the passage of the parking lot bills. Also thanked them for their vote (sometimes I am optimistic).

:thumbs2: me too

I need to get my TWO free faxes sent today, so I can send more tomorrow.

---------------------------

If either or both pass in the House, then the Senate only needs 16 votes instead of 21 if they'll suspend the 2/3 rule on a Wednesday or Thursday

Make sure they voted for SB321 before you thank them. :mrgreen:

I saw the Minutes for the 6th ... Minutes for 7th aren't posted yet :confused5

John Woods says call Calendars and have them delay HB 750 etc because "there are more important things"
Tell Chairman Hunter not to put out any of the guns-on-campus bills for scheduling. Remind him that the House has more important issues to be dealing with.
http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=211 ... d57fb711c8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I looked at the Supplemental House Calendar for Monday May 9

HB 1793 Gutierrez
Relating to the practice of cosmetology.
(B) providing a necessary service that is
preparatory or ancillary to a service under Paragraph (A),
including bobbing, clipping, cutting, or trimming a person's hair
or shaving a person's neck with a safety razor
;
(5) treating a person's mustache or beard by
arranging, beautifying, coloring, processing, styling, [or]
trimming, or shaving with a safety razor;
http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/ ... 01793H.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Seriously? That's more important than protecting life, preventing armed robberies between a car and a building, carjackings, car burglaries which can provide access to guns on campus to burglars, allowing a person to protect herself from an aggravated assault or rapist, and ............ ? :banghead:

Tell Chairman Hunter to put on the calendar the guns-on-campus bills for scheduling. Remind him that the House has more important issues to be dealing with, and this is one of those.

Peoples' lives (and allowing people the right to protect them without committing a criminal offense) is more important than someone trimming hair with a safety razor and ...

HB 1043 Christian / Lucio III / Zedler / Rodriguez, Eddie
Relating to creating an offense for engaging in certain conduct relating to cockfighting.

HB 3282 Guillen
Relating to the operation and regulation of 24-number bingo games.

HB 2728 Thompson
Relating to the operation and regulation of charitable bingo.

So it's a deliberate calendar kill again? Part of the plan as usual.

Yeah John Woods group is attacking the Calendars committee, flooding with calls/faxes/e-mails ...

Keep the push on, #Texas residents. Finish off the insane #NRA guns on campus bill for good. http://fb.me/YyD33m4w" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Actually Several on the Calendars committee are authors/coauthors of HB 750 but they need us to call fax e-mail to convince the rest of the committee, since Woods' group is flooding their inboxes

So several/Authors ON the Calendars committee WANT it on the Calendar... but ...
If they do not hear from us, they move on to who can play bingo and shave the back of your neck with a Bic safety razor and other "more important" business.

Well, my fortune cookie says good things will come shortly.
The other two bills for guns on campus came out of committee favorably on the 27th, but haven't been sent to calendars, so all we can ask for is 750 and 2178.... so let's do. ;-)

Just got off the phone with Justin at Hunter's office and he said "750 is campus carry and we've been told the problem is that if we send it over, the Senate will kill it" "The Senate tried attaching it to Zaffrini's bill and she pulled it" :shock: :grumble

I explained that in the Senate, coming from the House it only will need 16 votes, and Wentworth consistently had 19/20 votes so I can almost guarantee it will pass if you guys get it there" The reason Zaffrini pulled her bill is that they COULD NOT kill the campus carry part ..." MORE THAN a majority of the Senate supports campus carry.

He said ok thank you and hung up.

:headscratch

I"m guessing all the Staff/Interns don't know all the rules we are learning :lol:
---------------
Bonham agrees with us; campus carry is more important than bingo and cosmetology. "rlol"
