Fun in the Senate today. Senator Zaffirini offered SB 5 as amendment #4 to SB 1581, which was acceptable to the author, Senator Ogden. Wentworth then offered SB 354 as amendment #5 to SB 1581. I love it! This time Wentworth has gone "in your face" to both Ogden and Zaffirini.

Good clean fun. Wentworth is sounding a lot more reasonable in comparison to Zaffirini.

First
unfunded mandate cost to schools storage insurance
no increased insurance
up to schools what they do in dorms, no impact
Germane-ness challenged
"It's broad enough to be germane"
now approaching front desk
Now Senate taking a break while germane-ness discussed up front
---------------------------------------
(I watched house a minute earlier, realized nothing can go on there yet, but since Woods is watching Calendars, I figured ... Senate may be fun today (Like when they watched Senate before with SB 5 and House got 3 guns on campus bills out of committee
Call/fax House Calendars now, so while Woods is over in the Senate and tweeting everyone to call Senators tomorrow ...
( He has to stay up late tonight writing press releases )

My thoughts are if SB5 is germane to this bill and this amendment was germane to SB5 then this amendment will be germane to this bill. Hopefully the parliamentarian sees it the same way.

Was Zaffirini's Amendment #4 voted on, or is Sen. Wentworth's Amendment #5 an amendment to her amendment?
Chas.

Zaffirini's was voted on and adopted. Amendment 5 stands on its own.

Since Wentworth's amendment passed, it looks like the Democrats are trying to come up with some additional (gutting) amendments to offer. Now Lucio wants to try to remove Zaffirini's amendment.
