I remember reading a while ago that you were going to file a bill that would repeal quite a few of the restrictions CHL'ers currently have on where they can and cannot carry, such as pro-sporting events. Is it still being worked on?
Yes, it's in the works now. The bill I wrote will likely be "amended" before filing (they always are), and a meeting has already taken place with the appropriate people. Everyone from the Governor on down wants to see an end to these absurd delays, so we should see a good bill passed.

What can we do to help this get passed?

Depending upon how DPS responds to the bill, we may or may not need calls and faxes to our elected officials. Virtually every Senator and Representative has received complaints about delays, so I can't tell at this point if we will need a push. If we do, I'll certainly let everyone know here.

What exactly do you mean about delays? Do you mean delays on getting the bill finished, or CHL issuing delays?
I'm confuzzled.

No, I'm the one who's confused. I apologize folks, the bill on which the meeting was held is the bill that revamps DPS processing of CHL applications, including changes to some of the eligibility requirements. The bill that would put CHLs in the same position as LEOs, judges, prosecutors, county attorneys, etc. has been written, but nothing else has been done yet.
Sorry for the confusion,
Chas.

I see you're a CHL instructor, so I guess you wouldn't mourn the demise of the TR-100.

Chas,
After going through the processes of both Utah and Texas, it will be a great relief if we can get our system to more closely match Utah's (for both the paperwork and processing times).
If you need help with a push, I will be more than happy to help. Rep. Taylor has been very supportive.

Yes, I met you at our first run through for the instructor school. My wife and I were the white haired ones, and she was using the wheel chair then. I mentioned the need to do away with the tax/ student loan/ liens.
