But if that precedent basically amounts to "from hence forth we will enforce the laws we have", is that a bad thing? Isn't this what we have been saying, that we don't need new laws, but to enforce those laws already on the books?Middle Age Russ wrote:The teeth they have is setting precedent. If they survive court rulings in any way, these actions will have expanded the power of the executive branch at the expense of individual liberty -- another step, and perhaps a giant one since it messes with individual rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights, toward tyranny.

Anything Obama has ever done was bad. Anything he does to promote gun control is bad.
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.

Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Re: Obama acting on executive action
Enforcing existing laws is one thing. Allowing the Executive to selectively define and interpret where laws are not perfectly clear is the issue. This allows the Executive to, in essence, limit rights at their discretion thereby making them privileges rather than rights -- at least until the inevitable court decisions are rendered. For the Executive to issue such rulings on matters other than individual rights may be appropriate, but individual rights should not be so cavalierly treated. Due process is called for.Isn't this what we have been saying, that we don't need new laws, but to enforce those laws already on the books?

If only it was his secret goal was to coax Americans into buying more and more firearms, ammunition, magazines, gear etc. rather than as an unintended consequence of more gun control.rentz wrote:The one positive is its giving me a healthy profit on stocksLSUTiger wrote:Anything Obama has ever done was bad. If only at the end of his presidency he said, "just joking, got ya buy a bunch of guns didn't I, now the country is better off" rather than the need for the 2A becoming more apparent with every passing moment.

This is political theater and him just trying to create a more divided populous. The more he can polarize the people, the better chance his fellow progressive liberal democrat has to win the election and further the demise of our country.
He is cheery picking what laws he wants to enforce and uphold and which ones he does not. Our impotent congress is letting him get away with it and we, the people, are letting congress continue to do nothing to stop him.

Unfortunately it's going to take time. A great first step would be to see Paul Ryan get primaried out of his seat. He even admitted that Obama punked him and that he would try to do better this year.mojo84 wrote:This is political theater and him just trying to create a more divided populous. Unfortunately, you have people like Mia Love from Utah who were elected to try to fight this shenanigans, but instead seem to be falling right in line to the establishment.

It's been 7 years and it's getting worse. How much more time before we hit the point of no return?

His policies have artificially propped up our markets by hijacking the fed. I strongly expect a big time crash when he leaves and a new admin comes in- we will be damaged by this loathsome marxist enemy for a long time.rentz wrote:The one positive is its giving me a healthy profit on stocksLSUTiger wrote:Anything Obama has ever done was bad. Re: Obama acting on executive action
he did mention lost or stolen firearms that will be reported. then judge napolitano asked if that meant all the firearms the atf lost during fast and furious? would those serial numbers now be made part of records?
his teary eyed ploy was actually disgusting. right before we saw tears...he touched both eyes with the other hand, maybe he had some hot pepper sauce on his fingers?
