I find the last post to be quite dis-tasteful, and lacks civility. That's me exercising my 1A rights.

My answer to the question posted...How did Obama get elected? MEDIA, MEDIA, MEDIA. There was, and still is, an admitted media love-fest with the Obama camp. :ack: The other reason was because the Republican camp has moderated too far off of conservative values and principles that conservative voters expect. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it. :tiphat:

I completely pushed Biden out of my mind. How could anybody look at him and think he could pull it off if he's needed to fill in for the number one slot?

Eight years of Cheney. Biden certainly seems like he wouldn't hurt anyone. No worries of secret prisons & secret plans of world domination.

A future with Palin? Biden looks like some sort of blend of a dimplomat, a scholar, and 007.

Oh yeah, Biden. I almost forgot about him.

Obama 375 electoral votes
McCain 173 electoral votes

This is how US presidents are elected in this republic. Do you not respect the process in this country or are you just in the minority of 2008 preidential voters?

Obama 66,882,230 popular votes
McCain 58,343,671 popular votes

I know what the Electoral College is, thank you very much. Obviously most of your leftist bretheren don't, which is why they are still crying like a bunch of spoliled little babies about how GW "stole" the 2000 election.

And what the heck is a "torture camp?"

"Lackluster war plan?" at least the Bush administration HAD a plan.

" secret prisons & secret plans of world domination?" I think your sustainably mined, fair-trade tinfoil beanie is too tight.

Yeah, was it a good plan? No, but it was written down and everything (In crayon).

Annoyed-man, Very nicely said, eloquent and succinct. You have noted one of the most confusing elements of contemporary descriptions of political "labels" and reading political essays and posts from 90 to 120 years ago as the Progressive movement began to strongly influence USA politics and political parties. Again very well said, thanks!

Has any government in the history of the world been reduced in size through the legislative process?
It can happen here.

John Stuart Mill (1806-1873) English philosopher, political theorist, political economist, civil servant and Member of Parliament, was an influential Classical liberal thinker of the 19th century whose works on liberty justified freedom of the individual in opposition to unlimited state control.

The part about freedom of the individual in opposition to unlimited state control sure sounds A LOT like Obama and the current Democrats, doesn't it? :banghead:

The Classical liberal thinker of the 19th century is the anti-statist libertarian conservative of today.

Biden - the reason I pray for Obama's health every day. He has to be the dumbest VP we have ever had. I just loved how he made up "fact" after "fact" during his debate with Palin and the media never called him on it. Of course the media never called Obama on his statement that we have 57 states or numerous other misstatement of facts. We are now paying for having the least experienced and most ideological president we ever had.

Only on the very smallest of scales: there are many stories of small towns disbanding their municipal charters. Usually the town has shrunk to the point that it makes no sense to keep a city government. It's easier and cheaper to just unincorporate.

The most amusing part of this thread has been the constant referrals to how horrible Bush and Cheney were.

Two things yall might like to keep in mind..

1) It's 2009. Love em or hate em, Bush/Cheney and Co have been out of power for 11 months. Someday, you're going to have to move beyond this 5 year old "but they did THIS" mentality that excuses every bad decision from the CURRENT administration.

2) Continuing on the 5 year old mentality of "but THEY did THIS!", what part of anything a previous administration did excuses the decisions made by the current ones. I think I'm going to run for office, take some insanely stupid stance on an issue, then retort with "Well, LINCOLN suspended HABEUS CORPUS!" It seems to have been working for the big O. :tiphat:
