Update on the 1099 issue. A reliable source indicated to me that there is pending legislation that will modify the new 1099 requirement. A possible increase in the amount paid to a single vendor.

One way to avoid the need to issue a 1099 is to pay by credit card or debit card. Go figure! I am not a Tin Foil Hat wearing kind of guy, but it does get you to thinking!
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Thomas Jefferson

Side note: Apparently, still to this day, you have to bring extra supplies for the kids who can't afford them. I will be happy to do that...but the pens and pencils will be engraved with a "This pen/pencil was provided to you by 'daughter's name'". I'm evil like that... :smilelol5:
If the poorer kids need supplies then why cant the school buy them?
Oh, but the school DOES! And those poor saps who get guilted into helping donate to "Stuff the Bus" and the like also contribute to the laziness of some folks. My wife teaches 6th grade, and it drives her nuts how many of those kids come to school with zero school supplies - not even a pencil! There is no way that many kids are indigent, but they've figured out how to play the system.

Our district at least doesn't request extra supplies (other than kleenex, but you can never have enough of those in elementary school), but supplies do tend to disappear over time thanks to sticky-fingered classmates.
"I don't know how that would ever be useful, but I want two!"

Springs are cheap - your gun and your life aren't.

All mine are grown but we always were shocked by this. You see a kid show up with no supplies but dad has the 20" wheels and 6k in a audio system or a new BB or Iphone (NOT WHEN MINE WERE IN SCHOOL) but you get the point.

But all this start in the home.

Charity begins at home. So does parasitism.
