Heard on Fox tonight that NY Rep Peter King was going to introduce a bill that would ban carrying guns within 1000 feet of a federal offiical......I'm sure that will be effective.....after all criminals do follow the law... :???:

Well first of all, if I really wanted to shoot a federal official, I'd use a rifle — in which case 333.3 yards is not a very complicated shot.

Secondly, with the current size of the federal government, It isn't possible avoid all federal officials by 1,000 feet unless you're in the middle of the prairie.

Third, what do they think they are? Royalty? :banghead:

That's the end game they want, regulate us into oblivion. :eek6

It is so disappointing that after the last election it's a Republican that is pushing for more gun control ! Rep. King has made himself look rather foolish with this unworkable piece of legislation. After reading some of the national blogs tonight it is possibly going to be quite damaging to the new Republican Congress with a loss of faith from the voters. Then again ,, situation normal, nothing learned.

In DC at least, this is a lets them bypass the 2nd Amendment again following the Supreme Court's recent ruling on possession of a firearm.

Well, they are obviously much more important than us common folk...

One of my partners had a great reply when we discussed this. I'll edit it, but it was something to effect of:

Well, on the flip side those [guys] will have to wear a big [stinking] red sign saying "federal official no guns" in order to prove someone intentionally carried within 1000 ft of them. :rules:

thats sort of what i was thinking
how are we to know your a federal official, sort of muks up them being inconspicuous doesn't it
i for one don't know now what they all look like
maybe we just look for dummies walking around spouting garbage from their pie holes and we assume they are elected officials
what if they come into my zone, say while i am eating ??? who leaves ? certainly not me.

shear ignorance in DC is really starting to cause me pain from laughter

I am now officially declaring myself a gun-free zone within 1000 feet of myself. Except my own gun, in case of violators.

I suspect Mr. King was an indoctrinated New Yorker long before he was a Republican?

In addition, based on the idiotic anti-1A bill proposed by Rep Brady to make speech illegal that could be perceived as threatening, I personally plan to seek swift Fedreal prosecution for the next liberal who tells me to "go to heck" during a political discussion. After all, one can only go to heck if they're dead, right? I perceive that as a threat to my life.

You know, we wouldn't have problems like these shootings if we would just get around to banning murder already.

I propose they declare a symbol to mark "federal officials". I suggest one of Sarah Palin's
"crosshair" emblems, inside a big red circle with a slash thru it. The symbol must be at least 12 inches tall, in contrasting colors, in both English and Spanish, and be conspicuously displayed on each official.
