Anyone else find the comment funny? Aren't Florida's laws a lot more relaxed than ours? I think it would be fair to say that they are ahead of the curve. I don't recall any of our anti-gun legislators screaming that we will end up like Florida.

Um, last I checked, Florida had TWICE the number of concealed licensees as Texas...

Actually, it is about gun rights. But you don't like that the state has taken away some of your power, so you're going to kvetch about it in the name of "public safety".

OK - maybe I am just clueless - but what cities and/or counties in Texas have their own set of 'laws' that control weapons or ammunition? I've never noticed any difference in any of the cities or counties I've been in over the past 20+ years in Texas.

The gun law goes into effect Oct. 1 and prohibits cities and counties from regulating firearms and ammunition, leaving that solely up to the state and federal governments.

I believe Florida has had firearm law preemption for quite some time. The new law puts some teeth in that, creating personal liability for officials who violate the law.

It's the erroneous STATEMENT of enforcement of non-compliant signs. So far as anyone knows, nobody has ever been arrested for it.
Nevertheless, the State laws overrule local laws. (But we need a Florida-style law where we can sue the lawmakers personally for invalid laws! )
